To me it wasn't that bold of a move. A little research on reddit / redflagdeals and I wasn't concerned.

I do get your point in regards to their website, they are not doing themselves any favours with it.

The TV service is a form of legal IPTV. Reviews are basically 'meh'.

I think Cancom is best when you have internet only. Otherwise you will probably have to go with a sat service which has its own pros and cons vs cable.

Yeah I'm thinking the same here.

I was just looking at Shaw bill and realized their 2 year promo was up. I got on chat with them and asked if they could get my bill back to where it was and keep everything close to the same. Poof! Done. I should've known it wasn't that great a deal if I didn't have to fight at least a little bit for it.

So I've got 10 days to cancel though.I dunno... $147 a month for Internet 300, small TV Pick 4, Wifi Modem, PVR and personal phone.

I'm paying $80 for 300 as a previous customer and basic discount which seemed high at first, but the promos seemed to cool off and it looks like it's around $90 per month? I use shaw go wifi a lot so Cancom savings likely just pour into a data plan.

It seemed not long ago everyone was getting 300 for $50-60 new customer promos. What happened?

I still sometimes wonder if I should have taken on Telus Fibre. $105 per month for 24 months for 750/750 seems like overkill though. Even if it seems like amazing performance boost for only $25 ish bucks more per month.

"The Renewal Dance" is the most frustrating part of the whole Shaw experience. "Oh I am happy with Shaw, but competitor has this deal offered to me and its too good to pass up"

"Let me transfer you to retentions"

Oh we can do all sorts of stuff, Now!

Just give me a fair price and quit the charade.

Maybe it's just me but when I call Shaw to do the annual rate adjustment game, they won't budge nearly as much as before. I've even heard some won't get a deal until Shaw gets the call from Telus to port over all the services - only then will Shaw offer a deal. Personally for me that is way too late - if I want a better deal and sign up with Telus, Shaw trying to intervene with a "special offer" will only annoy me. Way too late for that.

I saw an ad for Telus teasing their best deal ever for Black Friday so I may hold out for that

Finally found something negative about Can-Com. The original modem I got in the beginning the was starting to flake out so I decided to upgrade to 600Mbps. They shipped me the new modem and everything was seamless.

But .... they insist on me shipping them back the old crappy modem on my time and dime. I now have to box this thing up and go to Canada Post to send a parcel. I know it's just going in the recycle pile when it gets there so this kind of peeves me off. You'd think they would have a place in Calgary (major centre) to drop this crap off.

I'm really hoping the experience gets improved. It wouldn't let me turn off subtitles, so I had to just make them extra small.

Still, a welcome addition to the box. Here's hoping Disney+ is added as well!

Any of the three Shaw stores. Chinook, Sunridge (I think) or their DT office.

Anyone using Lightspeed for internet? Saw it in another thread on CP — looking to ditch Shaw and want to consider what else is available before contacting Telus...

So Shaw went up another $5 a month starting Jan 1... I’m on a plan, but apparently that doesn’t matter... Tempted to buy out my tv contract and cut the cord.

As of January 1, 2020, the regular rate for your Shaw services increased by $8.00, plusapplicable taxes. If you are on a promotional offer or 2-year ValuePlan with a priceguarantee, this increase does not affect the monthly fees for your base services until thepromotional period or 2-year ValuePlan term ends. Any Theme Packs or add-ons may besubject to an increase. Visit shaw.ca/serviceinfo for more information

I'm on a 2 year plan, with some add ons but it doesn't appear I have any increases.

Apparently I have a 2 year plan, but not a price guaranteed 2 year plan... such a crock...
