One of my neighbours is attempting to mow his whole corner lot house lawn with a weed whacker. The lawn looks like it has bed head.

Ahem, this is the random thought thread not the random event thread.

The thread police have been contacted.

Wondering if he put seed on his lawn and does not want to use the mower for fear of sucking up the seed?

He has good reason for that.

I’ll see what I can do. He is also the guy that shovels and scrapes his - again a large corner lot sidewalk - at midnight during the middle of the week in winter. He is pretty old, looks retired so probably has no concept of time, I imagine.

Random thought- when you retire, does your circadian clock just take over if you have no motivation to follow a routine?

Was walking through Watermark Tower yesterday during the lunch hour yesterday and two Sheriff officers and a couple court officials were handing out summons for jurors, it was an utterly bizarre site. They were posted at the escalators at the south of the building and the entrance way to the +15 at the north side of Holt Renfrew: the group I was with came west from that +15. Anyone that got the paper, and after a few questions, were forced to wait until a big enough group was together then shuffled off to the court house.

Doing some digging this afternoon they haven't done that since the early 90s.

To be fair, back a few months ago when they were still doing their weekly stupid "Freedom Rally" down 17th Ave every Saturday afternoon, it definitely felt like that. I remember it was during the Olympics, which I always like to support by wearing Canadian Olympic gear, and I recall feeling like I couldn't wear it on weekends when I'm off work because I'd probably get roped in with those clowns by people (I live just off 17th and usually stroll down it on weekends). It was frustrating.

Fortunately, since the City finally shut down the Idiots on Patrol parade, I feel like it's gotten away from that association again, thank god.

Kinda adds to the whole “psy op” angle, aim to use the flag as their symbol with the added bonus knocking Canadians patriotism down a notch.

Looks like he's trying to make his yard look like a US Open course.

When your mower dies and your neighbour stands in his window watching you instead of coming out to offer borrowing his.

Speaking of flags, my Canada flag is coming down this weekend to be replaced with my Oil Kings flag for the Memorial Cup this week.

I worked at a golf course for three summers when going to college. I could replicate a mower with a good gas whipper but this is what happens when you aren’t very good or just don’t care.

I think there is some level of uncaring right now. Everyone’s home on the block have had their utilities marked in advance of Telus coming to install fibre. We have had the utility marker flags on our lawn for well over a month now and the contractors are still pretty far up the street from us. Some yards look really bad from the construction and people seem to be afraid of lifting the flags out or mowing around them, so there are a lot of places where the grass is about ready to seed.
