Gio was an incredible leader for the Flames on and off the ice, he left it all out there each and every shift. He will be greatly missed but this was the right move from a business perspective.
All the best in Seattle Gio!

The perfect role model for any person, really. It doesn't matter what other people say or think about you, or whether anyone believes in you or doesn't. Believe in yourself, work your butt off, and you can make your dreams come true. While you do it, carry yourself well. Treat others well. Help others achieve their dreams. Give your time selflessly to helping people who really need it.
One of the best Captains this team has ever had. One of the most consistent and tireless workers night-in and night-out I have ever seen on this team. Class act the whole way through. He will leave a deep hole not just on this team, but on this city. Really one of the few times it hurts to see a Flame end his tenure here.

I get that he was the obvious choice to expose, and it was prudent asset management, but it really sucks to see Gio go. He had big shoes to fill, taking over from Iggy, but I think he did a fantastic job. He actually reminds me of Iginla the way he carries himself on the ice (tough, won't back down from anyone) and off the ice in the community (unfailing polite and willing to engage with fans). He will truly be missed. Hopefully our next captain can continue the trend of being a fantastic leader on and off the ice.
Thanks Gio!

I do believe that exposing him was the right move, and that they shouldn't have spent assets to have Seattle not take him.
That said, this team has been regularly criticized for a lack of effort, not playing with enough intensity, and even for being in poor physical shape. Gio never took a game off, played with as much edge as anyone, and was consistently one of the best conditioned Flames. The Flames took the right approach to the expansion draft, but Giordano possesses many of the attributes this team needs.
Great player. Great ambassador for the team and city. He will be missed both on and off the ice. Only the best of luck to him. He's a very easy player to root for.

So sad we lost the Brodano pair. Looking like the end of an era. Poor guy looked betrayed at the expansion draft. Hope he re-signs after this season with the Flames.
my first year on CP was sort of Giordano's first "real" year as a Flame. So this is especially sad since I sort of wasn't the most avid follower before then.

Truly the end of an era. Not only did the Flames lose a great player, but the city lost a great husband and wife tandem as well who were both pillars in the community. Both Gio and his wife were such great role models during their tenure.
I just hope that Gio is able to do what Iggy wasn't and sign somewhere to be that veteran player the locker room rallies around and lift a cup. Been a while since the league has had a "Bourque" Cup moment and I really hope Gio is that guy.
Who knows, maybe a miracle will happen and the Flames will get their act together before Gio's career is over and he can get one last shot here. Either way I hope he gets one before he retires.
I'll miss you, Gio. All the best in Seattle or wherever you end up, and hope you get to retire with the Cup in your hands one day. And hopefully with the flames.
