Default Big Brother 23

Premiere July 7th. If this cast looks more diverse, it’s because it is. As per CBS mandate, 50% of the cast must be POCs.

Cast Bios:

Quote:
The cast of sixteen new houseguests will move into their new house live, where they’ll be facing some big twists right off the bat. They’ll immediately compete in a challenge that will determine four team captains, who will then draft their fellow houseguests into teams. The competitors will play in those teams for the first four weeks, adding a wrinkle to avoiding eviction. They’ll also get an opportunity for safety in the form of the new “Wildcard Competition,” which grants immunity in exchange for a punishment.

From first impressions it seems like there are less social media influencers and model-actors recruits compared to previous BB seasons. It feels more like a Survivor cast. The ethnic diversity is also a step in the right direction, but I wish there was more older people too - only four people 30 and over.

I just hope these people are entertaining and want to play.

Once again, same as I do every season, I complain about the number of twists and turns they throw at these people. Less is more! You put this many A types in one house and there's going to be drama, and that's what I want to see. I don't want to see people eating slop or whatever other dumb thing CBC comes up with. Just have normal competitions and stop with the silly twists.

I imagine it will be incredibly boring as it has the last 5+ years. If not someone please say so I can watch. But I won’t hold out hope.

So apparently Christie has been replaced with an alternate named Claire.
Won't be officially announced until tomorrow.

Not sure about the entire group but my guess would be more and more people want to go on the show purely for promoting themselves and/or their business. One of the HGs (cant remember which one) has a swimwear line which I'm sure they'll wanna talk up and then promote on social media etc.

The real value is not the $500k winnings, or the money the HGs get per week, it's in the free advertising the show allows

I always have poor first impressions of the cast because those canned responses during the introductions put me off every time, especially when they act obnoxiously, which most contestants seem to be instructed to do.

That being said, I'm happy to see the diversity and different personalities. I'm also very surprised to see how educated/employed everyone seems to be. I swear like 90% of BB22 was unemployed. Seems like a conscious decision by the casting team.

Hopefully some of the twists pay dividends as the past few seasons they've fallen flat.

Frenchie already having a pretty bad HoH, he's playing too fast and too hard for Week 1.

Nomination speech was terrible too.

Yeah I’m not sure what he was thinking playing so open with his promises of safety and then making noms out of left field.

I advocate for aggressive play but it needs to be done smart.

Frenchie overthinking his HOH x1000. It's week 1 not final 3

Frenchie: "This HOH was a success" hahaha

What a total mess of an HOH, he made so many enemies. It's unfortunate that he can't be the one to leave this week, everyone else seems pretty decent so far.

And there's no need to do what Frenchie wants for this vote, he's powerless next week. Might be better to keep the bigger comp threat in Travis and let him go after French if he wins

I've got this PVR'd but haven't watched. Is this season an improvement? Worth watching?

So far the cast seems a bit better than previous seasons. Lots of intelligent conversation from employed people, nice to see. Of course that could change quickly but I'd say so far better than average cast

Frenchie is awful. He's ruining this season so far.

Frenchie created the worst 1st week HOH i've ever seen. He created himself a situation in which he was forced to break his word because a person not on the block won the veto? In the first week? That's next level stupid.

Haven’t seen a player overplay their game that bad since Devin on BB 16.

I can get on board with a Kings + Queens + Derek X alliance.

Still early but Tiffany looks like she has the potential to be a good player, she seems very strategic and socially-aware
