TIL some more rides are open at Calaway Park, only 3 are still closed.

I also learned that wearing a mask while spinning very quickly makes me feel very, very bad. Apparently it's been large doses of cold fresh air keeping me from getting nauseous on rides all these years.

Isn’t that the truth. I ordered corn fritters the other day thinking that was the ticket. They sent me in my way and all I got was a gut ache. I also learned that place is disgusting but numerous messages on CP brainwashed me into going there.

There's a flower store in Kensington that really does hold orgies.

There is definitely not a basement below the basement.

I learned that the "little goombas" from Super Mario Bros. were actually "chestnut men" at first. It's completely changed my world view.

Although I think they Nintendo went with it and says they are mushrooms now.

I swear it used to be really good but the last few times I've tried it there was no seasoning at all. Just bland bland bland food

Goombas were created because Nintendo wanted to recycle the mushroom sprite as an enemy to save money, they were probably afraid calling them mushroom men would make them look lazy. There's a lot of sprite recycling in the first mario game: clouds = bushes, 10 different kinds of turtles, etc.

I just learned 825 is an Alberta area code. I had no idea. Now I just have to learn who texted me "Hey baby" from an 825 area code.

I learn yesterday that spray foam is similar. I have yellow spots on my hands that will probably come off as my body sheds that skin eventually.

Not money, memory. Every byte mattered in those days.

Learning stuff like this is why I watch Modern Vintage Gamer on YouTube.

There is a similarity between the power up and the flagpole music in Super Mario

https://digg.com/2020/guy-notices-a-...p-sound-effect

This guy speeds up the flagpole music and you might think it’s identical
https://twitter.com/user/status/1250796239370633216

This appears to show they are slightly different, but similar. Definitely same chords outlined, different sequence of notes

Never ever use Liquid Wrench on anything indoors.

The noxious odour will last for days.

Doesn't work better than other similar products either.

Mario wasn't pushing the NES to its limits, plenty of later games had way more sprites, music and textures, which makes me think it was a money issue. NES tech may not have been as well understood by Developers at the time, creating an effective byte limit that was later overcome, but with a larger budget I'm sure they could have done more.

Today I learned what a hurdy gurdy is...

And that Jimmy Page has a guitar with three necks.
