That's the thing, there's no way to legally buy a new copy of so many classic games. You're left with trying to find used copies that are often priced to ludicrous levels, and publishers don't see any of that money anyways. I don't consider it piracy when there is no way to support the developers even if you wanted to

My R4 seems to have been made obsolete through firmware updates. I guess it would probably work in my DS Phat, but I'm not sure I want to use that thing...

I don't understand why Nintendo doesn't do more with all of their old games. Why can't they sell digital versions of most of them on the Switch? Or like a subscription thing even. Seems like a gold mine to me. I'd subscribe to that on day one if the selection was good.

Even Disney has figured out how to open the vault. Nintendo is missing the boat.

Even if they did the quality probably wouldn't be there. Look at the Super Mario 3D All-Stars package, they're just using emulators for all of the games. But you get better performance and way more options by using roms with Dolphin, because the developers behind it are actually passionate about classic games. Nintendo just does the bare minimum when they finally decide to do anything at all

Stadia has a free demo of Immortals Fenyx Rising.. since it's a game I'm interested in and I've never tried a service like Stadia I thought I'd give it a try.

https://stadia.google.com/home

The game looks interesting, hopefully the "humour" in the demo doesn't carry on so thick throughout the actual game or I might actually be annoyed enough to be dissuaded from the game, I like the gameplay itself.. AC meets BotW.

While Stadia wasn't outstanding by any means it did manage to beat my very low expectations somewhat. The graphics aren't that great but the game was pretty smooth after a bit of initial chop and the input lag wasn't bad for a game of this type.

Not sure it's a great way to showcase the game in that it makes the game look a lot worse than it can be.

But I must say if I didn't have a gaming PC and there was some PC game I really wanted to play, or say I was travelling and only had my work laptop, I think I could could use it. The graphics would look better on a smaller screen for sure.

Is Stadia actually a thing?

I heard about it a while ago, but I assumed it would flame out and fail.

Is it any good?

The best pokemon games I've played was probably Emerald followed by Gold/Silver (or their remakes, I guess)

Honestly though I'm not a fan of the series. It's just too easy.

The three best RPGs on 3DS IMO:

3) Radiant Historia
2) Devil Survivor: Overclocked
1) Tales of the Abyss.

Dragon Quest VIII is the best 3DS RPG, IMO.

Try the PS2 version on an emulator running at 4k

Question for those that played The Witcher 3
I'm trying to make a dent into my library of games. Is it worth it to only go through the main story line, or do I need to do the side quests too to level up enough to complete the game? It's kind of like Skyrim with so many things to do. I'm enjoying it so far though and the atmosphere and environment is very immersive

Good question I want to do the same but I was waiting for the graphics update.

We’re working on the next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt!

Developed to take advantage of the most powerful gaming hardware, the next-gen edition of the game will feature a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times — across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content.

The 3DS version has a number of changes that make it a way better game than the original. Notably no random battles (enemies appear in the world) and double / triple speed battles.

I don't think you have to complete them for leveling purposes, but they're an important part of the game experience. If you're just plowing through to get to the end - doing a blind speedrun, effectively - why play it at all?

Basically, do as many sidequests as you can find. I'd suggest doing all the Witcher contracts, in particular. But don't worry about all the map markers.

You must do The Witcher 3 side quests! The writing is just as good as the main story proving insight into the characters and setting. I also enjoyed how some of the quests offered interesting choices that impacted the game.

Agreed as above you can avoid the map markers like treasures and monsters unless wanting to grind out XP.

Agreed. Part of what made Witcher 3 one of the top-tier experiences of this console generation was the richness of the world, the side quests, etc. They did a masterful job of avoiding the cookie-cutter vibe of many such games.

Maybe they shouldn't have joked about it after the last delay, lol.
