Default Dec 14 Practice. Bouma will travel with team. Ramo starts vs Preds.

Last practice before the Flames leave for their road trip.

Wideman and Bennett are missing.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
#Flames lines this morning: Gaudreau-Monahan-Jones; Raymond-Backlund-Frolik; Bollig-Granlund-Hudler; Ferland-Stajan-Colborne

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Bollig skating in Bennett's regular place. Will get an update from Hartley after practice. #Flames

I don't know. I still scratch my head as to why Bennett is playing wing.

With the team semi-clicking now, wouldn't it be good to hand him the role to run with? If he can't handle it, simply revert back to Granlund/Backlund option.

I had a dream last night that Bouma started playing wing on the top line when he comes back from the shelf. Raymond miraculously disappeared and Jones took Raymond's spot. Then all was well.

Dammit... Knew it was too good to be true Bennett coming right back..
Hopefully I'm wrong and he's back for tomorrow.

I'm hopeful that Bollig on the second line as a placeholder is indicative that Bennett is not expected to be out for a long, or any, time.

Otherwise, I would expect them to be playing a bit more of musical chairs with the forwards.

The kid's a beast, I'm willing to bet he'll play even if he isn't 100%

The team's clicking well and on a winning streak with Bennett playing wing. Why try the experiment now? Plus Monahan, Backlund and Stajan are not going to be moved from centre so essentially you have to have Granlund on wing (which is fine with me) but Bennett will then be saddled with bottom 6 wingers and Bennett's not in a good scoring role.

Granlund and Hudler are bottom 6 wingers?

Granlund yes - I like his play the last couple games but that's what he is. Hudler? Normally no, but right now he's a bubble player and outplayed by Jones and Frolik all year. At the moment the top 4 wingers IMO are Gaudreau, Jones, Frolik and Bennett (although Bennett has played with Granlund and Colborne he's a top 6 guy IMO).

If Bouma slots in he's a Bollig replacement. But Raymond has played pretty well so I suspect he's in still. Who goes out - Ferland (who was going to sit last game)?

Wideman missing practice also for maintenance reasons this morning. Both he and Bennett are expected to play tomorrow in Nashville. #Flames

I would think Jooris at this point IMO. Bollig is a coach favourite and his presence in the locker room is keeping him in. Raymond is playing a spot on a winning team right now so I doubt they move him. Ferland could be said as the same thing. Bollig was played over Jooris and at this point he's just watching games. Let him get his confidence back in Stockton if he clears

That being said, I don't know who he replaces in the lineups.

As recent as a week ago that was an easy answer with Raymond the likley candidate.

Is Jooris hurt or just being sat? Does Jooris clear if waved?

With Granlund playing well it would be tough to send him back if he keeps that play up. If Granlund faulters then he is the easy send down.

Bollig is not likely to be sent down as he seems to be the favorite "add grit" extra forward.

Would Bouma agree to a conditioning stint? Best case might be to get him a few games in Stockton and see if Granlund can maintain his hot hand. At the end of the stint you could evaluate the situation again. Or does getting Bouma straight back into the lineup improve our team imediately?

Sorry more questions rather than answers.

Even on a conditioning stint, he has to be put onto the 23 man roster, so someone else would still have to be sent down.

I think to clear a permanent spot Jooris would be the guy they waive. I doubt he gets claimed and he seems to have fallen out of favor with Hartley. Having said that when you look at the lines the easiest guy for him to replace is Raymond. Bouma has played a lot with Backlind in the past and a Bouma-Backlund-Frolik line has the makings of a solid 3rd line that can play tough minutes

I don't think they'll waive Gaudreau's roomie this year. Jooris can be a healthy scratch. MayRay should still be waived. No will claim him, if they do we'll then BT should buy a lottery ticket the same day.

With their contracts Raymond and Bollig should be sent down - no one will claim them.

Granlund is playing too well to send down.

Waving Jooris has dangers, being picked up.
Waving Raymond has no downside and potentially he gets picked up which would only be desirable.

Seems like a no-brainer to me.
