Default Emile Fricken' Poirier

Thought he deserved his own thread in here. Already off to a good start back in the Q with 2 goals, 2 assists in his first 2 games back.

thread title needs more exclamation marks...or does he have to earn them first?

If Gaudreau only gets one exclamation point with all he's done so far in his career, I think we should wait on the punctuation for Poirier.

his second game of the season must have been a beauty ... two goals, two assists and a fight. Just one scrap away from a rare double Gordie Howe hattrick

Every 20 points he puts up should give him an exclamation point. Kind of like a gold star back in elementary.

Poirier with 1G,1A in a 3-2 loss last night.

I'm living in Ottawa and might cross the boarder for a game or two this season, just to see Poirier play live. And if Monahan gets sent back to the 67s after 9 games, I'll definitely be catching a game or two

That is known as the Jarome Iginla Hat Trick.

I don't know if anyone in the NHL has ever done it, but the term was coined when Iggy had 2 fights, 2 goals, and 1 assist (IIRC) a few years back.

Plus he leads all active players in Gordie Howe hat tricks, so it's still fitting to name it after him, in much the same way as Gordie Howe got the name despite supposedly only ever actually doing the deed once or twice in his career.

Does the 9-game "Monahan" rule apply to Poirier in the AHL too?

Oops my bad, for some reason I thought he was assigned to the Heat on a 9-game tryout.

Carry on

Couldn't have been assigned to the Heat either way, he's not old enough.

Really? In a field surrounded by such exceptionally mundane first-round picks as Eric Nystrom Kris Chucko, Matt Pelech, and Greg Nemisz? I get what you're saying, but the Flames have picked some really boring players in the past.
