Would be a good pick up. The Flames have spent enough good assets acquiring goaltenders over the years. Ironically, the best goaltender the Flames have nabbed was a UFA we picked up from the Czech League. Maybe Zagidulin can be another diamond in the rough.

This isn't soccer. It's not Montreal.

Here is that Hockey News Future Watch Blurb:
Quote:
The backup to Metallurg star goalie Vasili Koshechkin, Zagidulin had some solid stats of his own and, at 6-foot-2, he's got the requisite NHL size. Still raw, his untapped potential is part of reason he's garnering interest.

Hopefully this means no draft pick will be used on a goalie this year.
Man I hope we draft all our picks, plus a few extra if possible. I feel this kind of move is key to long term team success.

His 0.924 SV% was the 17th-best in the KHL this season.
Henrik Karlsson's 0.928 SV% was 13th and Joni Ortio's 0.922 SV% was 21st.
His 1.96 GAA was 9th-best in the KHL.

What's not to like?
Emerging young backup stuck behind a star goalie. Right age for breaking out.
Free asset.

Not bad since those other two goalies are pushing 30 now I think and hes only 23. So plenty of room to develop.

Definitely, especially now it seems like we are drafting really well.

Apparently his nickname is "Zaga"
Fan960 is interviewing teammate Matt Ellison, and that's what he called him.
I wonder if he's viewed as a possible backup for Rittich next year.

Let’s sign him to a 3 year 4.5mil, I think we’ve seen enough at this point.
