I am very sad to hear this.
Condolences to his family and friends. The City of Calgary will miss him.

Wow such a strong presence around the Saddledome. Love him or hate him for the impact he made on the Flames but he always had time to stop and talk to the fans and always made himself accessible. Terrible news. RIP.
Edit for a good Ken King story. Was eating with a friend and his son in the Chrysler Club and they had some sort of raffle going on with Conroy as the speaker. My friends young son wins a Jersey and goes up and accepts it from Conroy who signs it for him. Ken King comes over and congratulates him on the win and notices the autograph and goes "oh man hope you didn't let connie sign it now the things worthless" we got a great chuckle out of that.

There were rumours a while ago he was sick IIRC.
Man too bad. I'm gonna miss having my hand crushed when we shake hands.

Ken King was the biggest reason for Flames rising out of laughing stock status in the early 2000's. Arguably the most important figure in this club's history. RIP.

Wow what a terrible day.
Ken King was a great person to talk to, with his hand crushing handshake, and he made time to talk to anyone that approached him.
He was instrumental as the face of the Flames, especially in the bad old times when the league was having labor issues.
He pushed through the new arena deal. Was huge in helping the Flames develop their current charitable face.
Its just sad that it might be a long time before the Flames can salute him.
RIP

He truly had the biggest hand in turning The Flames into a stable org. Taking over from Ron Bremner I believe

OMG, this day is just full of shocks one after another in the past 24 hours. That's a big loss to the Flames organization! My prayers go out the the King's family. Just a sad day overall!

Sad that his vision for a new arena for the city and the fans never happened. However, despite failed attempts, he was the reason for this project to get underway.

Earlier this year Ken King approached my friend and I before a game to make sure we were enjoying our happy hour beers. Then talked to us for a few minutes about life in general. Seemed like a pretty cool guy. He looked like he was struggling health wise, but was making the effort to walk the concourse talking to fans. This news sucks to hear today.

Met him a few times. Class act. The last meeting was at an Okotoks Dawgs game. My daughter was singing the national anthem. Afterwards, when she came back to sit with me, he came over, introduced himself to her and said she did a fantastic job and looked forward to hearing her sing at the 'Dome one day!! RIP Mr. King

Terrible news. I knew about the condition of his health for a while, but didn't say anything out of respect for his privacy. RIP Mr King.

End of an Era, really.
Too bad he didn't get to see the new arena.
