#4 Sens vs #6 Pens - round 2 series preview
The 4th seeded Sens prepare to battle the 6th seeded Pens in the Eastern conference quarter final. The Sens overcame a slew of injuries and beat the Leafs in 6 games while the Pens came out on top in a low scoring 7 game battle with the Wings.
Key Players:
Sens
David Perron: Tied for the team lead with 7 points in round 1. Will need to light the lamp in round 2 for the Sens to advance.
Darnell Nurse: Nurse will get lots of minutes in this one as the #1 Dman will have to face lots of high powered talent on a nightly basis, He will need to lead the way for the Sens.
Davd Rittich: Big save Dave will have to be just that. This series could come down to a lot of one goal games,
Pens:
Marc Andre Fleury/Matt Murray - The 2 headed goalie rotation shut the door in the last 5 games of round 1 and allowed the Pens to escape wirh the series, They will need a similar round 2.
Connor McDavid - Mcdavid queitly put up 6 points in the round 1 series and scored the series winner. He will need to be much more noticable in round 2.
Joe Thornton - With Hischier on the shelf the Pens will need more secondary scoring. The big centre was silent in round 1 and will need to be much better,
Keys to the series:
Sens
The Sens will need to stay healthy. They can't endure another series like the Leafs matchup where the players were dropping like flies.
Balanced scoring. The Sens will need to get all their lines going as the Pens have the ability to keep games low scoring.
Pens
The Pens will need to score more. They have the talent to light the lamp but have not been able to do that, The won round 1 without scoring more than 2 goals in a single game, the only exception was an ampty net goal in a 3-1 win. That wont cut it here.
The Pens will need both goalies to be sharp again to advance,
This should be an interesting series. Will the Pens wake up offensively and can the Sens stay healthy? I think this series will go to the team that can get the offense rolling the quickest. I am predicting that this series won't go 7 games ether way.
