So I'm thinking of switching from Telus to Shaw, mostly to save money. I can get basically the same package from Shaw that I currently have for half the price for the next year. Any thoughts on this? What exactly is this BlueCurve? From what I can tell it's basically just their app?

I believe BlueCurve is the name of their app and PVR hardware. I think the Telus equivalent is Optik TV.

i have Blue Curve. It all about the app.

I only have the internet side of it. The main thing with it is, it allows me to control any device hooked up to the network - as in pause or activate the wifi to each individual device. It also comes with a mesh network if you decide you need it.

It's absolutely great with my kids. I schedule all their screen time to certain time limits and have shut off periods.

Blue Curve is Shaw’s implementation of Comcast’s X1 platform.

Doesn't work for AppleTV, but if you have Chromecast you can cast from the Chrome browser off a laptop/computer.

I looked into upgrading from my old Shaw Gateway to the Bluesky/Blue Curve but the rep told me to do that I have to upgrade my TV package. Can you seriously not get Bluesky with a bare bones TV package?

Hey all, I know this is likely a long shot, but is anyone here an actual SHAW tech or have the tools to open a home owner's outside access box and activate the external COAX connection?

Backstory: We had our new house possession on Friday, so a couple weeks ago I called SHAW to do the service move. They said I didn't need a tech on-site, just plug the modem in and you're good to go. I should have asked for a technician, but I didnt. Fast forward to Friday, I hooked up the modem and no joy. Spend 30 min with tech support to determine they can't see the modem. (Previous owners were Telus) Likely scenario, outside COAX connection needs to be activated. Book an appointment for today, which winds up being a no show/no call (very understandable, given current virus circumstances). I spoke to SHAW twice today to see if they could determine whether technician was coming, but they couldn't. So they said I'd have to re-schedule. Unfortunately, next available appointment is Thursday. I booked it, but being that I am working from home AND the IT Manager for the company, its making me a little nervous.

So I'm reaching out to the community here to see if anyone might be able to help out. And I want to be clear; I hold ZERO animosity towards SHAW as I know they're not only in the midst of moving their entire call centre team to working from home, but they're dealing with this just like I am and everyone else.

I had a couple of blips yesterday morning that interrupted by VPN connection to my office (Glamorgan/Currie area). But for less than a minute each time.

Shaw at home and at work has been pretty solid. For me, at least.

Pretty solid here in Deer Ridge.

I am on VPN and both kids are gaming / streaming / home schooling all day.

Maybe it's just me then. The issues started when we got the new gateway system (blue curve). The modem is upstairs and the office is downstairs and the internet cuts out at least once a day. They shipped a new gateway box but not sure that is the issue. Anyone have any suggestions? if there was an easy way to send an ethernet cable directly to the basement I would do that

My wife’s office in Kensington area has been having all kinds of issues recently. Shaw says they are seeing lots of noise whatever that means. It sucks because she is trying to remote in and can’t. Even if she goes to the office it’s terrible.

Had an issue with noise at my house also. They recommended I do a factory reset on my modem. Seems to have cleared up the problem for me. Then had to get the Hitron back in bridged mode but that is another GG.

So I am thinking of getting rid of shaw and moving to Telus to get a new customer deal.

My issue is I have Shaw 150, but Telus only offer 50 in my area.

Does anyone have 50? Can you stream 1080P fine? It is just me and my wife and we rarely have more then 1 stream going.

Just don't want to shoot myself in the foot.

Depends a bit on the provider and how much they're compressing their stream, but Netflix says 5Mbit is good for 1080p, 25Mbit for 4K.

We were down a good chunk of Sunday morning.

Just happy it wasn't a Monday morning where it could stop me from connecting to work

Shaw went down for half the first round of the NFL draft in my area. That may be the final nail in the coffin for me.

If you buy the FX Canada channel do you get all seasons of "Its Always Sunny" on demand?
