On my first trip to Vegas we rented a convertible because we wanted to drive around and also check out the Hoover Dam. I was really surprised to find out that the resorts offered free parking. I expected to pay around $15 a night for parking like pretty much all other hotels across North America. It seemed like the parkades were pretty empty any ways.
The Mansion is by invite only. You have to have a certain amount of money in play per hour to earn an invite. In other words, you have to be filthy stinkin' rich and have nothing better to do with your money.
I'm not sure it's as nutty as you describe. I just had my divorce party in Vegas 2 days ago and, a few months back, the boys were planning to stay there+covering my share. The group is mostly non-gambling (3 of us have played WSOP, but it's a once in a lifetime thing)... so I'm sure there is no $/h criterion. I don't know numbers, but I wouldn't allow something that top-shelf for a divorce party, especially if you can get 2X swank 2bdrm for 650/each at Vdara. Rather spend it at Rhino. And nobody in the group is UAE royalty, just comfortable Calgarians.
No parking is free on the strip. Now do they add something I the resort fee to cover this, quite possibly, but if you aren't staying at a strip hotel and have a car u can park in the parkades for free.
I believe what he meant to say is that "everybody will pay for parking on the strip" (once the changes go through as discussed in earlier posts) it will not matter if you are staying there or not.

Fair enough. As I said in my other post the other majors will join the party too once the dust settles. I usually park at the flamingo anyways so I am safe for the moment. Might help cut back a few drunk driving incidents a year too as the costs to park vs cabbing it get a lot closer in price.

Not at MGM properties once they implement their plan.
They haven't announced details yet so nobody knows how exactly it will look for people staying there. Part of resort fees? People are hoping for that but not holding their breath. How much? They just say probably under $10.

Sorry, I had to look it up. The $/h is for invited guests, who stay for free. But if there isn't an invited guest you can book it for $5000-$15000 per night, depending on what you book.
The Mirage has two of the best "cheaper" places to eat - the Carnegie Deli and California Pizza, which are right next to each other ironically enough. I had breakfast at Greenberg's and it was awful. I will try lunch next time to give it a fair shake.

I love Vegas, and have been there many times with friends as a getaway, for bachelor parties, and with the significant other. But for some reason a divorce party just sounds so much funner (not suggesting I'd want a divorce).

You know that scene at the end of Shawshank Redemption where Andy is in the sewage pond, arms raised and looking up to the sky?
Imagine that while being motorboated by 2 dime-piece strippers while a 3rd is squirming in the lap to the sound of Eminem's 8 mile song.
Just spent the last weekend in Vegas and it was not nearly as busy as its been in my previous 3 visits there, maybe weather related. However the flights to/from Calgary were 100% packed which is partially due to the extremely cheap flights these days.
Last year we did a Tuesday evening - Saturday afternoon trip and it was $1250 at Planet Hollywood.
This time around we did Friday morning - Sunday night (usually way more expensive) for $820 at Monte Carlo.
Direct flights and double occupancy. By far the cheapest I've seen weekend Vegas trips in years.
Had a blast as usual. Go see Absinthe at Caesars Palace, amazing show.
I just booked a trip to Vegas over Easter Weekend. Leaves Thursday night and comes back Sunday night. Probably the cheapest i've ever booked Vegas over a long weekend. $1,200 for 3 nights hotel (MGM), return direct flights for me and my wife ($600/person). Swore off Vegas because of the exchange rate but couldn't say no to that deal on a long weekend when I don't have to take time off of work.
Anyone know when the pools open? I've heard second week of March, but it depends on the weather. We are leaving on the 24th of March so I'm hoping they are open. I've been there in early April before in the weather was around +30 celcius so i'm hoping I can at least expect around the mid twenties.

Has anyone ever tried the "$20 trick" in Las Vegas
I have not. However last weekend the lady checking us in asked where I wanted our room. Told her high and facing the strip and she straight up gave us floor 20 facing the strip.

Yes, I've done this before, but not in Vegas. I've done this in Hawaii successfully (room upgraded and like 3-4x free drink tickets than normal), had my money returned in San Fran (but got the upgrade and free drink tickets because front desk felt bad my room was a really bad one due to hotel construction), did it in Vancouver (but there was nothing to upgrade to due to a convention). I didn't do it in Vegas because the manager was hanging around + they were busy and I was in a rush to drop off stuff to run out and play so I couldn't revise the timing to a time when the manager was gone and 40 people weren't waiting to check in. Timing is a very important part of this "trick".
However, the $20 part isn't actually the most powerful part (though it can be an incentive to the person working the desk who doesn't feel like putting in the effort or risking repercussions). It's literally asking about complementary upgrades and being polite about it.
If you're scared to try the trick (I admit I was at first), then run the "We're on our anniversary/celebrating a birthday/wedding party! etc" lie. It works just as well as the complementary trick without need to directly ask or pay anything. You just get what you get (nothing = nothing lost, something = win win win).
I'd also mention, this trick isn't limited to the denomination of $20. I've seen people do it ranging $5 to $50. Just don't try and use a $1 bill.
I also want to add that when I receive the favor from the front desk, I also usually ask if there is something I can do for them in return such as putting in a good word on their behalf to a manager or customer satisfaction card or something.
Every single one has politely declined each time, but I can usually tell they're happy to have a customer recognize the work they are doing.
It's a few mins off the strip, east on Sahara tucked in a strip mall complex. But if you like Thai food, it's not to be missed. Every time I'm in Vegas I make sure to eat there at least once and there's always celebrities there as it's world renowned. One of the best wine selections in Vegas as well. It's so popular you often need a reservation if you're in a large group but a couple can often be slid in on the fly. I've never had trouble calling a few hours prior as well. As good as it is, the price is also quite reasonable as well.

My wife really wants to go to Vegas this spring, she wants to see Celine Dion. Originally she was going with her sister but she has since backed out so it looks like I might be the one who has to go. I've never been to Vegas, and I am going to be going through this thread. But I just thought I'd ask a couple questions up front. As of today, what is considered a 'good' price for flight/hotel? Best newb friendly hotel recommendations? Expected daily meal/drink allowance for a couple, she doesn't drink really just the odd one, I love craft beer.
