Bennett with points in two straight games. Hopefully he's got a little streak coming up. He sure deserves it at this point.

From a recent Athletic article about Rittich:
Quote:
“I wasn’t pretty good, probably, because I wasn’t drafted (into the NHL),” Rittich said. “I didn’t play for the national team at any (level), juniors or anything. So I was still working hard.
“I didn’t think about the NHL. I just wanted to play hockey. I just wanted to play my lovely game.”
Which he did, steadfastly grinding his way up the club ranks at HC Dukla Jihlava – from U18 to U20 to Czech2 – before being hired by a Czech elite team, BK Mlada Boleslav.
Discovered by Flames scout Derek MacKinnon, who’d been at the rink to take a peek at HC Sparta Praha centreman Daniel Pribyl...

There's a scout that's earned his paycheck
I really like Peters giving so many minutes to guys that haven't gotten them recently. Also it makes Tkachuks productivity look even more ridiculous : 4 points in less than 14 minutes of ice time

I've always liked in Hockey Fights Cancer games how the board ads are all a uniform colour.
I wish they did the same thing for all the other games, each arena could use a team-specific colour, like red for the Saddledome. Otherwise desaturated ads would look great as well:

We'd have another 6 points I'd say, Smith cost us about 3 games this year

14 goals scored on Vegas in their last two games in Calgary.
Friday afternoon's game should be interesting. I assume Fleury will get that start and the Knights will be out for revenge.

That's probably not wrong, and it would also put us among the very top teams in the standings, which I actually feel would be correct. On the other hand I don't think it's a bad thing for the team to battle some adversity early on. Long as Rittich can keep it together and Smith can find at least some of his former groove again, this team will do just fine during the grind.

That third period was probably a bit of a blessing, it will give them something to work on in practice and they won't rest on their laurels knowing it wasn't a perfect game.

Top line was clicking from puck drop, PP scored a couple of goals, Big Save Dave gave the team confidence and the Golden Nuggets had no push back.
I don't know if they were still on the high from beating the Oilers, confidence from Rittich in net or the team finally showing their full potential (or all of the above), but it's an exciting time to be a Flames fan.
Bravo Flames, Bravo!

Rittich >> Smith. Smith should get no more than 1/4 games from here until the end of the season, my preference would be even less.

Eh. They essentially benched the top two lines out of mercy tonight. I don’t think anyone on the team will read too much into that period.

I thought it was classy by Peters to both hold back a bit and give loads of ice time to the bottom six. Nothing good ever comes out of completely embarassing the opponent, so I agree that dropping a couple of goals and making it closer than it probably could have been was a good thing for us.
Since the 9-1 drubbing by the Pens, Pittsburgh has won two games while Calgary has won seven. I know that there are obviously other factors at play, but those two teams brought very different lessons with them from that game.

Someone mentioned earlier that we have 4 point per game players. Look out for #5! Gio with 20 points in 21 games.
