Ryan leads the league in Corsi? Did I hear that right? (Sportsnet960 broadcast).

Derek Ryan's overuse. It's still a thing.

One of the few things I have a problem with about Peters.

He is good, although slightly over payed, as a 4th line C, key draws and PK.

He needs to be stapled to the 4th line and that's that.

I don’t know if he should be stapled to the 4th line, I think he’s capable of moving up and down in your bottom six.

He shouldn’t be on the power play anymore though.

He should pretty much be getting the Stajan role from last year, and very little more than that.

Well, according to the Sportsnet hockey lines banner during the telecast he played on a line with Janko & Eat Bread against the Oilers last Sunday.

These are comments about a utility player on the team that is leading the division. . . brought in by the coach who has coached the team into leading the division. . .

What precisely does a player have to do to gain your approval?

My problem at this point is more with Peters giving Ryan more icetime than I believe he should be getting. And right now Peter's has Ryan playing 2 lines too high.

On a first place team.

Let that simmer.

Ryan is not good enough offensively to deserve more than 4th line 5-on-5 minutes + PK time, and that's about all. Even with the team's current forward injuries.

I like Ryan, IN HIS ROLE.

He's being asked to do things hes not capable and it's showing. He's a solid spot player and 4th line guy. I like him in that role. He is much more useful than a guy like Stajan.

Are you honestly going to argue he wasn't brutal tonight?

With the #2C out of the lineup, yet the team is still in first place.

Maybe you are more of a sous vide kinda guy.

Only 5 forwards have more points than Ryan on the Flames

Puck dies more on Ryan’s stick than it ever did on brouwers

Let that sink in

Are you going to argue he wasn't the best option for 2C with the injury to Backs?

He was asked to step up and he has done exactly that.

I don't know how much more you can expect from a guy playing with Sam Bennett. Seriously...

Sure, but the problem is Ryan is rather offensively unskilled compared to many of the Flames players, and not just the 'big 4'. Many offensive plays die on his stick in many games and he often commits more glaringly bad giveaways in the offensive zone than many other Flames. It's great that he's really, really good defensively but I see most of the forwards on this team with more offensive talent, or more offensive potential than Ryan.

That's why he still shouldn't be playing anymore than 4th line minutes + PK time. Like I say, Basically Stajan's role from last year. Shouldn't be anything wrong with that.
