Steinberg said that Sportsnet changed plans and has sent extra personnel to San Jose in anticipation of the Oilers firing McLellan
So if they lose he's fired? I have to think Gretzky will be the replacement. You just know that Katz has been dying for Gretzky or Messier to coach his team.
I don't see how McLellan would be anything other than relieved. I bet he will go back to his SJ flat and sip chardonnay the evening through. He will lament taking that job for the rest of his life. How do you accomplish anything in Edmonton? He probably hates his situation more than Edmonton fans hate him.

Clearly, Edmonton water is just...no good. You know what’s embarrassing? That two brain cells couldn’t bump into each other in that Oiler shill’s brain.

Average team is average. Average drafts, average results, average trades, average asset management, average vision, average outcomes. Average.

I still don't get it. How can you point a finger at Tkachuk for 'not answering the bell' when a useless goon challenges you, for nothing more than taking a poke at McDavid, when the big nasty German didn't want to answer the bell for his slewfoot on Tkachuk?
Talk about being a coward - Draisaitl getting repeatedly punched in the face reminded me of one of the Sedins being punched in the face by Marchand.
The way that entire city is riled up, you have to figure that the Flames will end up dressing Peluso and Prout for that game. Fans want blood. Media wants blood. The pressure is going to be on Kassian, Nurse and Lucic to do something.
I am just amazed at the complete hypocrisy coming from that city. Pay Tkachuk his money. He earned it.

Is Zach Kassian really tough as nails though? Isn't he in fact a very, very poor goon? I think the reason Tkachuk shouldn't fight him is not the fear of being knocked down by a tougher fighter, but rather that the trade-off would be so horribly lopsided with Tkachuck sitting for five minutes next to a crap player like Kassian.
If anyone should be answering the bell, it should be Kassian who needs to take on Peluso for assaulting Tkachuk. And rather not on the ice as it would be detrimental to the Flames to carry Peluso for a game, but in a back alley or something.

For all those Oiler fans and media taking shots at Tkachuk for not fighting a goon and protecting his head on the ice, I wonder how they feel about Nurse taking a cowardly punch at Bennett after the officials broke up the fight. And then mouthing off to the refs after. That was a punk ass move as well.
Strange from Tychkowski. If I recall correctly he's usually got a pretty humble take on the Oilers.
Not really. He was okay a few years ago but ever since they fluked their way into the playoffs he’s been on of their biggest cheerleaders. Just another name on a long list of ridiculous Edmonton media personnel.
Oilers media got too caught up in the glory of another BOA win when the Oilers got up 2-0 and when reality came crashing down at the end they were upset and diverted their attention to the Flames rather than focus on why the Oilers could get manhandled so badly in the 3rd period of the game. Oilers fans and media have to accept that teams aren't going to give McDavid a free ride every night. Crosby had to put up with a hell of a lot more than McDavid has in his career to date and I think Oilers fans have unrealistic expectations that he's untouchable in games. It's not like he's little Johnny Gaudreau as he's a big and strong man and doesn't need to be handled with kid gloves. I don't think he has to fight but the kid is so passive like the Sedins and teams are going to take advantage of that.
