Sunroof is one of the best if not the best options you can add in regards to resale value.

Personally I would never spend extra for a sunroof, if a used car has one fine, if it comes in a package I won't complain but it is not a selling feature for me. which is funny cause you give me a targa and I'm smiling, and I miss the days of t-tops.
Yeah, that’s basically why you never ever waive glass coverage with a panoramic glass roof.

As far T-tops/targas, that’s making me miss my old fourth gen Camaro, such a wicked option that you don’t see any more. My dad has a C5 Corvette with a targa and — not gonna lie — I’m a bit jealous of it in summer.

Speaking of sunroofs and targa tops, I'm probably late to the game but the mechanism for the new 911 Targa is just jaw droppingly cool.

You just made my day. I had no idea it was automatic. That is slick.

Had a Jeep Grand Cherokee as a rental over the weekend and surprisingly I really liked it.

Looked into what they cost for ####s and giggles though, holy ####. It wasn't that good

I'm pretty sure that Targa mechanism has been the same for about 5 years, so you don't actually need to shell out for a 992 for that feature.

After some additional research, CHL appears to be right.

Everytime I see one on the streets now I think of that video. Haha, have to see it in motion sometime. I'm still not sold on the vintage look Targa stainless strip though. It is missing the mark just a bit as far as the blend between modern and retro. I think the styling of the 911 has just moved forward a bit too much and the blend just doesn't work. Maybe it will grow on me.

Says the guy who will most likely never buy one off the showroom floor. lol

You can have the Targa roll-bar in a matte black finish if you want (in exchange for $790 CAD). The silver finish just happens to be standard equipment.

Porsche is one of those manufacturers like Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. that will allow you to customize factory orders to lengths that are simply unheard of with most other car makers. The best part is you can use their online 'Build Your Own' feature and see what all those variations look like, too. You can even send them a colour swatch and they'll do the exterior paint in that colour (for a price TBD of course).

Yes it does look better IMO.

I have been toying with the idea of a Cayman in a year or two, but its easy to get carried away in the build.

Porsche is amazing at the level of customization you can do in the build. I remember looking at a boxster years ago and you could wrap pretty much every interior surface and part with leather if you were so inclined. Even the little door lock knobs. (yes that long ago)

The correct build for a targa is Carmine Red with the satin black roll-bar, black roof, black interior. Obviously the 4s manual.

The Targa is definitely the looker of the 911 range...although I'm not a fan that it only comes in the 4 (and the manual available only in the 4S). The 992 is already a bit of a porker, a basic 911 Targa 2 with a manual would be perfect.

Thanks! I had no idea.

Now I am looking at this covetously. My wife is struggling to buy into my contention that it is a bargain given how much depreciation it has already taken.

Took one for a test drive on Saturday. Quite liked it. Sticker price is up there, but I don't think it's really out of line for the segment. Having said that, I looked at the Altitude trim which is on the lower end. Thing is, buying a one-year old used saves so much, if you can go that route. Re-sale not a great strong suit.

(as an aside, tried (just0 the Cherokee Trailhawk with the 2.0T. That could be a lot of fun, too)

Wouldn't mind more feedback from Grand Cherokee owners.

Just looking at the automotive market for those vehicles, I don't think you should be looking at a Jeep or any domestic product if near-term re-sale value is a purchase consideration, even if it's lost that first year of depreciation. If you keep your vehicles for a long time, then go for it because they all drop like a stone after seven to ten years.

I'd hold off. I've seen them come up for well under 100. Granted that one has 32k km which isn't bad, but the interior... yeah, not so much for me.

The red interior may not be for everyone, but I quite like it. You gotta be a bit bold when you get a car like this...the world does not need more boring black interiors.

Oh, it's just dreaming for me right now. I have two kids to get through university so realistically I am 5 years out from any foolish fun purchases.

Absolutely!

There's a Chartreuse Green Targa driven by a lady in the Mission area quite often.

I saw a guy driving a bright forest green RS7 on the weekend and thought to myself: "Awesome! There's a guy that just bought what he loved".

For some reason, colored cars are really appealing to me more and more lately.

Kind of depends. The combo in the one posted above, to me, just makes the whole thing look like a toy. There's a way to do it.

For example, if you were to do a targa and pay Porsche whatever they asked for (and I imagine it would be 5 figures) to do your interior in the 911 sport classic pindot, or more realistically the 50th AE style with the houndstooth, I'd be 100% on board.
