I haven't played many of these types of boardgames but I like this one. Robo Rally, Catan and carcassone(hunters & gatherers version) are others I've enjoyed as well. Tried playing Betrayal at House on the Hill once but it was too complicated.
there's one that my wife really likes - i think it's taboo... but i could be wrong... is that the one where you need to make your teammates say a certain word?? if so, it can be a fun game if you're playing with people that you have lots of inside jokes with!

If you like LNOE, you might like Castle Ravenloft, which is sort of similar, although CR is more co-operative, so you all have to work together more.
Another great, sort of similar game, is Arkham Horror, but it's pretty hardcore in its complicated rules and set-up time. It also takes a really long time to play. It's based on the H.P. Lovecraft mythos, so I may have a natural bias . . .

What no candy land fans? Got to say Axis and Allies and risk. I also really liked the space risk (risk 2050 or something) really put a twist on games because 3 random countries were nuked so it changed the game a bit.

If you want to play a stupid(but still fun) version of Cranium try Quelf. I remember one of the cards is if you land on the same spot as someone else you have to hold hands or something idiotic.
Also not really a board game but things in a box is pretty fun.
