Flames trade Frolik to Buffalo for a 2020 4th

Wow. I've liked Frolik's effort the last few games, but the salary room gives us a lot more flexibility.
He's been a good foot soldier for us and an original member of the 3M line.
Plus his likeness to Ashton Kutcher is uncanny. Burn!

Frolik has been a great soldier for the Flames over the past years. He slowed down a bit, but he's on those few players where I never worried about the effort. Hopefully he does well in Buffalo.
If you can sign a UFA and still trade them for a draft pick when they are expendable (ala Hudler, Glencross, and now Frolik), that is some great asset management.

Gives Treliving much more flexibility than he had 20 minutes ago.

Solid move. Frolik wasn't happy with his usage the last two seasons and we needed the cap space. A 4th was more than I thought we would get from him.
He wasn't playing well this season and was taking a lot bad penalties. We have plenty of forward depth to replace him.

At his peak, Fro was a really excellent two-way second-line forward. Glad he was a Flame but it was time to move on. Good on Treliving for recouping a pick, this is the exact kind of move he needed to start making.
