Well to be fair, majority of his tenure here leaves a lot to be desired. 2019 calendar has majority of his time here, and the record isn't anything to be pleased with.

The Avalanche traded Duchene two years ago, here is how they continue to win from that deal “We want players that want to be here”

Sounds like a good plan.

Not saying there isn't significant problems with the players (not least of which is having zero identity what so ever) but it's not like the coach was able to course correct for what, the last third of last season, or certainly in the playoffs. When Peters had no answers for a wildcard team.

They are weak mentally. When they are on they are one of the best when they are not they are hot garbage. I think we move a major piece see if that helps fix the identity and re-tool on the fly kind of like the Avs did with Duchene. We could even move Gio and Johnny make this Chucky's team and go from there with the picks and prospects. If someone doesnt want to be here ship them out. Reset the window.

Monahan to me is playing well this year - just not getting rewarded.
It will come for him.

The Leafs are imploding, the Preds have lost 5 in a row. I wonder if either of these teams could be a match for a shakeup trade?

Turris would be interesting to get. But then again so would Calle Jarnkrok. But Nashvile doesnt want what we have to sell. They do defensemen just fine over there.
I think we've all been over the Toronto options a bunch already, there is a fit. Just a matter of if they do it.
Another player I'd try toget out of Toronto is Yegor Korshkov.

I love how a no information nugget is causing people to infer that Hamonic is overly "entitled"

Granlund hasn’t worked in Nashville at all. I wonder if we could get him somehow. I just don’t know enough about the Preds to know what their issues are and what they might target. I know obviously not D

Turris has a $6M cap hit until 2024... I'd trade Lucic for him but that's it.

To decifer: Likely some agents grumbling about Peters to McKenzie about the way their clients are supposedly being treated. That’s where McKenzie gets his info. Fair enough.
Dreger though is piggybacking off of McKenzie timing wise, as he has his whole career, and trying to spin his click bait opinion into fact...and likely had to check to see if Hamonic was a UFA this July 1 before he made his comment and dramatized his words into something that just is pure garbage. Classic Dreger to whip up something that isn’t there and have suckers misconstrue it.
His value to TSN is he knows someone at the league office that can tip him to trade calls or transactions before anyone else. Exhibit 1a, see the Jokinen to Flames years back.
As a result, very few respected agents or managers trust him with anything info wise, as he’ll sell those guys out as quick as he can to get a scoop...so for his insider Bs, not unlike Eklund he has to create something out of nothing, and hope people bite, to keep him relevant most of the time.
So nothing new or ground breaking here for any team that’s in a 5 g slump. Leafs are having the same. The Kadri trade is being reexamined in Toronto, Babcock is getting questioned for the first time etc.

I don’t put any part of this season on Peters.
Also, I hope Tree doesn’t become focused on saving this season. The team is missing parts it can’t just acquire. Everything Tree does should be about addressing the team needs going forward. Centre depth. Scoring wingers. Speed. Size.

remember the last time a flames gm tried to save a season??
for once, I wish this franchise would stop considering "just making the playoffs" as the vision for success.
This team needs to properly bottom out, get some actual elite talent. they need a big player, with skill and speed. The flames have many players that have 1 or 2 of these things, but your best bet to get a player that has all 3 in the lottery. Or you simply just keep hoping you land big in the mid-late first round, or further.

Continually changing coaches is one reason why the Flames don't have an identity. Tre needs to suck it up and keep Peters in there and see which players coalesce around the coach. Pretending Peters is the problem because he's chewed out a few guys on a ~0.500 team is delusional.
