I don't know about that. I mean, yes, Mangiapane does get frequently mugged and knocked down by opposing players, but I feel like I see him lose his own footing an awful lot every game.

Then he's even more Hartnell than I thought!

The Flames out hit the Flyers 24-8

The game before they outhit the Blues 20-10

They out hit the Avs 31-25

Outhit Vegas 45-38 (Lindholm 10 hits)

They have been playing like a real NHL team trying to break a slump

The Team is switching over to Tkachuk's leadership.

Or ...

They're playing like junk and chasing the game and generally don't have the puck. Bad teams have high hit totals for the most part, the Flames have been struggling with entries and dumping it a lot, which creates many opportunities to run up hit totals.

A lot of bad teams that hit a lot are ahead of the Flames in the Standings. All teams ahead of the Flames in the standings have more hits/gm than the Flames (before the last 4 games).

I don't know that the Flames have the players that will/can continue to hit at the level they are doing short term but being able to do so and getting used to it makes them a better playoff team.

No. The Flames badly out-hit the Colorado Avalanche in a five game series last April 181–146. Why? Because they seldom had the puck.

Possession of puck = less hits and more wins.

Minimal possession of puck = more hits and less wins

Got it?

Sort of like Manhattan being under water the last couple of years due to global warming. A theory not supported by the facts.

Islanders 16-5 hitting a hellva lot more than the great possession 11-15 Flames

The Penguins are somehow winning a lot of games with the 2nd most hits in the league.

That crappy bruin team is chasing the puck and forced to hit more than 100 time more than the Flames. Just lucky in getting a 15-8 record.

Even the previously soft 11-9 Tampa team now hitting to physically dominate a game...is 30 some hits ahead of the Flames.... with 6 game in hand on the Flames. They recognized they were not play off ready after last year and made changes.

Nashville is hitting almost as little as the Flames and is doing almost as poor in the standings.

There is a much higher correlation between teams that hit a lot with winning than teams that win the SAT and USAT% races (due to them being hit as they chase games) and winning

Look it up and take notes.

You honestly think the Flames have become an angrier more physical team in the last two weeks that have featured a string of losses and getting shut out often vs the idea that they haven't had the puck much and therefore have run up hit totals?

Bingo, you are literally hunting bear with a butter knife when logically rebuking and/or rebutting this poster’s position.
