Didn't the Flames have an unusual number of comebacks last season? I think Harry's point is that the team seems to somewhat abandon systems late in games in an effort to come back; Playing more to their strengths using speed, agility and skills to make something happen.

The NHL adjusted, and Peters adjustment to that adjustment was to play meat and potatoes hockey, much like you would ask an untalented team to play. That leaves actual talent out to dry. It's lazy.

And no, the answer is not Frolik.
The answer was Mark Stone.

Solved by moving Backlund to wing with Monahan, Lindholm to centre. I’d put Tkachuk with Monahan and maybe Mangiapane with Lindholm and Gaudreau.

The answer was found two games ago.
Tkachuk-Monahan-Mangiapane was a good, high functioning line.
That left Gaudreau and Lindholm to find a third to make a strong second line. Peters abandoned this experiment the next game. That left us with the year long tire fire of Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm to continue, because they are 'going to figure it out'.

Does anybody actually believe that wasn't a set play?

Well if you watch the video, he says it was a lucky play and he was just trying to get the puck on net.

Disagree. Cycling is extremely effective in terms of possession and wearing down the opposition. It’s been an integral part of hockey ever since I’ve been watching.
If the Flames can’t cycle at all and have no ability to dump and retrieve they’ll go nowhere in the tighter checking playoffs. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying every line should dump and chase all the time but sometimes it’s a play you have to utilize.
Why has the Ryan line been good lately? Good puck possession, good cycling, good puck retrieval. The rest of the lines need to take notice.
What’s lazy is our players. They won’t show up to start the game and have trouble fighting through adversity. Their work ethic is extremely inconsistent. The coach seems to be the exact opposite of lazy I’d say based on all reports.
There seems to be something rotten with the core and some of you just wanna stick your fingers in your ears and pretend it’s always coaching. The players are the ones not showing up for large parts of the first 40 mins

If you watch Peters' interview post-game, when he's asked about that he gets a little smirk on his face briefly, then wipes it and says that of course one doesn't want to be in that position...

Almost every team practices set plays like that now a days. The Wings started the trend back in the 2000's.

Yeah, not saying it wasn't a set play. Only saying that it's a very, very high risk move at that point in the game. Getting the right angle and the right bounce is not exactly a certainty.
