48 point lead for the Flames right now!
A lot of posters also continually harped about how unfair the expansion drafts was and that Seattle was being gifted a great team, etc, etc

Maybe we should bring out all those posts as well

Wow.
it's a tough business- lots of Islanders love too. Isles and Knights two of the top 4 favorites for the cup

I would have taken bets that those 2 teams would make the playoffs before the season for sure.

I am happy with my prediction as well. Tkachuk bouncing back, Johnny having a big year, if Markstrom is a top 5 goalie this is a top 2 team in the pacific.

I had a lot of if’s in my prediction but I believed that the team was better than last season. I wasn’t/couldn’t be so bold to predict the Flames would be viewed as a legit top cup contender this year.

The pandemic was hard on this team and this fanbase. There were many on this board who were convinced and adamant that this team was not good enough and anyone who thought otherwise was a blind homer. Tkachuk wasn’t going to be worth his $9M QO, Johnny was not an elite talent, this team was going nowhere. A lot of fans with Will Nault style opinions.

I personally was not happy with the offseason. Gio, Ryan, Leivo, Nordstrom, Simon, Nesterov replaced by Zadorov, Coleman, Lewis, Richardson, Gudbransen. Many of these moves turned out to be solid additions to the team. Adding Toffoli and Jarnkrok mid season really bolstered the forward group.

Year 4 since the Flames-Hurricanes blockbuster Lindholm is a 39 goal 78pt selke candidate first line center. Hanifin is a 45pt all situations top pairing Dman. Such a transformative deal. The 2 high profile Canuck free agent signings of Markstrom and Tanev have proven to be unbelievable pickups for the team.

When our top players are league wide top players this team looks deep and elite (see this year and 2019) but when those guys are average this team is on the bubble at best (see 2020-2021). Trelviing took a lot of heat in the last year but right now he deserves a lot of praise for sticking with the group and adding some key pieces with none more integral than Daryl Sutter.

I think most posters thought they totally blew the draft with terrible picks

I predicted the Flames would be there at the end for a playoff spot or have it secured before the end of the season which was right but I wouldn’t have predicted the Pacific Division champs.

What I was wrong about was Darryl’s coaching style. He knows how to coach different players and I think he should get a little credit for the record season some of the players are having. Gaudreau, Tkachuk and especially Lindholm for the numbers he’s put up.

I can't bring myself to bet or predict how my team, the Flames are going to do. "Conflict of interest" would cover it. I am ever the optimist and since I have watched Hockey since 67' I appreciate but don't fall in love with players.

Not only that but I dislike the Oil and the Knights both and would had a bias there.

I DID take Gaudreau and Tkachuk in my season scoring pool which means I did expect 80 pts at least from both. That's as close as I come and they both blew that prediction out of the water! Haven't won the pool yet but dam close as the season wears down.

Oh yeah and I did watch Lafluer on the tube in his prime on HNIC back in the day.

There was also a thread with a poll to predict the final point total for the Flames. I could not find it though. I’d be interested to see how that looks now.
