The same showrunner that was fired just before Disney aired the series due to inappropriate behavior Disney wanted to disassociate from (he had an Only Fans or something).

I wonder how much the current show's storyline and pacing has to do with him and how it could change.
Seriously?? WTF people?

Just finished ep3. So what is this universe? Morph is alive and Magneto is the leader. Is this a popular comic series? Where did it branch off from the original cartoon?

It's the X Men animated universe? From 97? Hence the name and animation, X Men 97?

It's a continuation of the 90s Cartoon, which ended with Magneto and the X-men together saying goodbye to Prof-X as he flew off to space to seek medical treatment for his Alien Empress girlfriend. This show picks up seemingly about 6-10 months later with Jean (not Jean) 9 month pregnant, and Magneto being willed the Professors property with a mandate to continue his mission (which Magneto accepts). It appears to be an official cover story that Xavier died rather than publicly stating that he left earth for health-care reasons, which is why Magneto was able to exercise Xaviers will.

Yes there have be several popular runs of the comics where Magneto joined and or lead the X-men. I believe they a specifically pulling from a run in the 80s where Magneto wore the purple sleeveless costume we are seeing, and the Jean / Sinister Jean clone / Goblin Queen story was written, I'd expect if you want to spoil the rest of season 1/2 then find the run of X-men written by the writer who wrote that story and read what else he has done with the other main characters, I think after episodes focusing on Cyclops then Magneto then Jean, over the two seasons we see an episode pretty focused on each individually; Jubilee, Sunspot, Wolverine, Storm, Beast, Bishop+Cable, Morph, Gambit, Rogue, Professor Xavier (I think there are some indications that nightcrawler will also be back), and they will probably pull from the same run for each of those characters.

I think TSXCman is just misremembering the original cartoon... Morph "died" at the beginning of the show and then was revealed to have survived and was brainwashed by Sinister, came back and tricked the team into getting into a bunch of bad situations, then overcame it but took a leave of absence.

I had forgotten most of what happened in the animated version (shocker, 25+ years will do that) so I just sort of skimmed through this.

Didn't like the last episode. Kind of an odd choice to rush through major events and then include a Jubilee filler episode.

I havent watched it yet...but ugh...Jubilee? Really?

It would have made more sense for her to join the school, graduate, bum around for a bit, and become a teacher.

Sparkly hands, 90s sunglasses and a raincoat aren't particularly useful in a fight.

Unless maybe you're fighting 'Rainman' or something.

Jubilee was a late 80s/90s update on Dazzler? Dazzler kind of sucked to begin with.

Theres just so much wrong with that.

Also, Elton John wants his 90s superhero name back.

I enjoyed the episode but I don't mind Jubilee. I did like that they brought back the original voice actress to play the older version and the throwbacks to X-Men arcade were fun to see again.

I'm not a Mojo fan though. He's never felt like a villain that could cause any lasting repercussions for the team.

The weirdest thing to me was they basically had enough story for 75 percent of a Jubilee episode and then rushed the Forge and Storm stuff for the other 25.

Yeah, just strange episodic composition. Odd decision. But I'm glad they sped through the Jubilee content. Easily, easily in the conversation for lamest character, right up there with Cyclops and the aptly and creatively named Jean Grey.

Latest episode was pretty lame. Seemed strange to rip through interesting storylines only to stall with whatever that is.

Yeah, that wasn't good. But I do think we need to manage expectations a bit. A Saturday morning cartoon can't should should be 100% bangers. A reference for only people in their 30s, Not every episode can see TJ as king of the Jungle Gym.

I think there is an interesting pathos there.

Sort of like Robb Snow. But I digress.
