It's Team Canada, I don't think it matters where she lives. Hard to think of a reason how a 4-time defending champion can suddenly be ineligible.

Strange wording in that “Curling Canada was made aware…”. They are the ones who rule on eligibility.

Provided some wrong information above. Certain eligibility criteria is determined by Curling Canada (residency rules, qualification criteria etc…) while other eligibility criteria is determined by Sport Canada and Curling Canada follows those rules (Drug Testing). Devin Heroux really following this one.

I thought it happened with the Kevin Koe team but I think that was where the team actually disbanded so the remaining three got to represent and brought in a fourth player, which is different than this.

Wonder if it’s a failed drug test for cold meds? Clearly not the first thing we think of when it comes to curling!

They wouldn't be "made aware" of a failed drug test, they administer those. Also would not be hours before the fuest draw.

it's still weird, it's a Curling Canada event so who else besides them can make her inelligible?

Example, if McDavid got tested by WADA and it came back positive, they could not make him ineligible to play for the Oilers, that would have to be an NHL decision.

Could you imagine, "The NHL has been made aware that McDavid is ineligible to play NHL games until further notice."

Read through Devin’s twitter posts, he does a very good job explaining what would happen should a competitor test positive for a banned substance. NOT SAYING THIS IS THE CASE WITH BRIANE HARRIS. Curling Canada uses the Canadian Center for Ethics in sports (as do many national sporting organizations) to conduct drug testing. I understand that they can only communicate if an athlete has tested positive or negative for a banned substance, not any details such as what or how much. Privacy rules prevent full transparency and protect the athlete both publicly, privately and professionally.

Surprised at Lawes being 0-2, especially after being up 4-0 against SK.

Cool that Sturmay is 2-0 though, good for attendance if nothing else.

SK has given up a 4 ender in each of their two wins

Watched a bit of the Homan match. I want to be careful to read too much into scattered comments caught by the broadcast, but I just get the vibe they kind of treat Fleury like crap. Just seemed very critical every time she missed a call or threw a “ton of rotation”. She played lights out and I found myself feeling kind of bad for her.

Maybe I just misread the whole thing but Homan has always kind of given off weird vibes for me.

My wife and I drove down on a whim yesterday to take in the afternoon and evening draws. Lots of fun, great atmosphere. Saw several curlers in the patch after the draw last night.

It’s been a long time since I attended a live curling event, even though I’m an avid watcher. It’s harder to follow any single game in the stands, but there is always something going on or a team throwing skip stones. It’s a bit overstimulating actually because there is no natural “intermission” when the 5th end breaks are all staggered.

But in both draws we attended, the televised games were not the best games. There were some great close games yesterday including Northern Ontario vs Saskatchewan and Yukon vs BC.

If you get the chance, I highly recommend you take in at least one draw this week.
