"Today it is with deep heartfelt sadness that AC/DC has to announce the passing of Malcolm Young.
Malcolm, along with Angus, was the founder and creator of AC/DC.
With enormous dedication and commitment he was the driving force behind the band.
As a guitarist, songwriter and visionary he was a perfectionist and a unique man.
He always stuck to his guns and did and said exactly what he wanted.
He took great pride in all that he endeavored.
His loyalty to the fans was unsurpassed.
.
As his brother it is hard to express in words what he has meant to me during my life, the bond we had was unique and very special.
He leaves behind an enormous legacy that will live on forever.
Malcolm, job well done."

incredibly sad. Their older brother George passed away only a month ago. Brutal for Angus, losing two brothers in such a short time must be heartbreaking.
Malcolm Young, guitarist and co-founder of AC/DC, died Saturday at the age of 64. Young had been suffering with dementia for the past three years, an illness that forced his retirement from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band he founded with his brother Angus Young in 1973.
AC/DC featured heavily on my turntable in the 70s and 80s. Angus received all of the attention, but I think Malcolm was the driving force with that outfit.

Just one of the most iconic bands of all time, and MY was a huge part of making them so. I wonder if there is anyone anywhere that listens to rock music that doesnt have AC/DC as a staple on their playlists.
That band has seen so much tragedy and loss. It's hard to fathom how they have carried on as well as they have.
RIP Malcom. I know from family experience that dementia is a terrible thing.
Yep, me too. My grandma, aunt, and just last night my uncle passed away from it. My other aunt has it and I would be shocked if she lasted another year if not half of that and my mom is convinced she's already getting it.
