RFA Re-signing Instructions: Deadline July 3rd 11:59 PM (MST)
Folks here are the instructions for re-signing your RFAs.
- If a player is signed for this upcoming season - you don't need to worry about it. If a player is a free agent and 29 or over - use the UFA grids. 28 and under - the RFA grids.
- If a player does not have a gird amount you can sign them for the minimum (the amounts at the bottom of the list)
- As always, if you re-sign UFAs they are 1 way deals. RFAs are 2 way deals
- You MUST have enough cap space to re-sign your UFAs, but you do NOT need cap space to re-sign your RFAs
You'll also see in the grids there is a ratings cut off. All players above this MUST be in your CPHL (excluding ECHLers who don't need to be signed) by th RFA deadline for you to be able to make UFA offers.
NEXT STEPS:
- Submit the RFAs you wish to re-sign by Friday July 3rd 11:59 PM Calgary time.
- This should be done by emailing cphltrade the following (send it all in one email, not an email for each player). Please follow this format.
- The name of the player be signed, OVR, number of years you are signing them to, and the corresponding grid amount.
- A list of players you are NOT re-signing
- Please include any ECHLers that have 0 years remaining. You can also sign other ECHlers with term remaining but there is no deadline for this yet. ECHL contracts are based on where they were drafted in the NHL:
1st Round = Picks 1-10: $1.35 million, Picks 11-20: $1.15 million, Picks 21+: $1 million*
2nd Round = $0.75 million*
3rd Round and beyond = $0.5 million*
After RFA re-signing we will have UFA re-signing and then UFA bidding.
There is a lot in this post, so please read carefully and ask questions. No question is dumb. If you are confused, chances are someone else is.

^Yeah that's perfect. Do that. Please do not send an excel sheet or anything like that - that's harder for us to use. If folks follow the above as a template that would be swell.

Question – will you guys be processing RFA signings all at once after the deadline or periodically throughout the signing period?

Am I good bringing up Eriksson Ek (70) from the AHL now that he has been re rated?
I figure it's fine but just want to confirm he won't be subject to re-entry waivers.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought we brought in a new rule that 1st round picks only get 2 year ELC. Am I crazy?
edit: Or do we even need to specify the amount of years we are signing our ECHLers? Just name, dollar amount and draft position?

1st round picks are given 2 year ECHL deals, so they have to be signed sooner. The entry level into the CPHL is still 3 years. That's the change we made.
All ECHLers are signed to 3 years.

Just a note, it goes by our CPHL draft and not the NHL draft
A guy like kaiiyev was draft in the CPHL draft in the 1st round and receives a 2 year ECHL contract. He was drafted in the 2nd Round of the NHL draft
So if you’re ever wondering why a player only got 2 years in the ECHL, search our draft thread and don’t look at where he was selected in the NHL
