Looking at the final results, seems like Pool A was a little tougher than Pool B. I'd say the road to first place is slightly easier for Middaugh than Koe (though it probably just comes down to who wins the head to head).

That mess at 6-2 though...seems like 3 wins will be the minimum for them to get 3rd place and I think there is a decent chance one wins all 4. I don't see Jacobs or Gunnalusson having a real shot at top 3 here.

No Page playoff this year due to the expanded number of teams in the tournament. Same with Scotties. I had not noticed that.

Now Koe gets 3. Shotmaking is insane.

Scotties sort of ended up with a half page play-off as 3 and 4 were tied and needed to play a tiebreaker. They ended up just avoiding the 1 v 2 game of the normal page playoff with 1st going straight to the final. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens again here.

I'm pulliing for Koe to win and work his way straight to the final, but if he loses this game and then him and Bottcher win out, I wouldn't complain with 2 AB teams in the playoffs

So both 5-3 teams won so everything is even tighter now.

Middaugh 8-1
Koe 7-2
Bottcher 7-2
Gushue 6-3
Epping 6-3
Dunstone 6-3
Gunnlausson 6-3
Jacobs 6-3

Ontario vs Ontario tonight! (peers at transplant99)

So if Koe or Middaugh can win 3 straight, they will be Brier champions.

Unbelievable how tight it is and the quality of teams. If one of them loses both their games today, they might not even make the playoffs. And even the two 4 loss teams are thinking if they win twice today, they will get another game.

Every game is pivotal.

Everyone went 1-1 yesterday, that's how even it is. Who can go 2-0 today? The leaders Koe and Middaugh play each other in the last draw tonight. It could be the defacto 1-2 game.

Looks like Gunnlaugson will be first to be eliminated.

Could easily have a 4 way tie for second after these games.

Yup.

Koe 9-2
Middaugh 8-3
Dunstone 8-3
Gushue 8-3
Bottcher 8-3
Epping 7-4
Jacobs 6-5
Gunlaugsson 6-5

Tonight.

Koe vs Middaugh
Gushue vs Bottcher
Gunnlaugsson vs Dunstone
Jacobs vs Epping

If Koe and Dunstone win there will be no tiebreakers. Koe will be first and Dunstone will face the winner of Gushue/Bottcher in the semifinal.
If Middaugh wins and Dunstone loses, there will be no tiebreakers. Middaugh/Koe and winner Gushue/Bottcher is in, not sure in what order.
But anything else, we're in tiebreaker hell, especially if Epping wins.

I wonder if the Middaugh rink is starting to fade. I could see the eliminated teams losing again, leaving the Gushue/Bottcher game essentially a 3 vs. 4 playoff game.

That one is 50/50.

Is it just my imagination, or do Koe's teams seem a little snippy with each other.

It's Morris. He doesn't shut up.

Maybe that is it. Koe said something, like be "more positive". And my interpretation was Morris was bitching about Neufeld's throws, tring to get him going. But maybe I didn't get it right.

Anyway I can't be too hard on Morris. If not for him and lawes, Canadian curling at the last Olympics would have been a disaster.

Hate seeing Middaugh flame out but I kind of thought that rink might run out of gas.

Actually im sure he was talking about Neufelds rocks....they were carving harder than the others. He ended up switching them with his the next end.

Morris might be the best curler ever. He can skip, vice, sweep, call the lines everything. But he cam never stick on a team.
