Have got three emails from different courses saying they are cancelling everything and starting new with bookings. Max 2 people per booking but some will accept more if family. Reduced tee times. Windmill Group says expections for golfers is 1.5 hours per nine holes.

I had booked yesterday for Monday as took an unexpected day off last minute. Booked for three , me, my wife, and daughter. Not sure if it will be honored now. Hoping so, it may be the only day I can go until July.

1.5 hours for golfers seems fast? Like I can see that as a single, but as two or three I’m not sure. Definitely sounds unlikely if that’s a family.

Some guys were posting yesterday of some potential hope...anything in that vein happening?

1.5 hours should be easy for a twosome.

I saw something posted earlier today that the lobbying efforts to get an exception and keep operating courses as normal were going nowhere. It seems like AHS and the government are digging in their heals this time and aren't open to providing any relief.

Courses are cancelling tee times and turning off online bookings due to not being able to keep it to twosomes. The online portals see an empty 2 spots and try to fill them.

I guess my thought about the singles and twosomes not making it around are due to the groups ahead though. If it’s wide open, you should make it easy, but if you’re waiting for a group ahead of you that’s another story.

At this point...can only hope that this doesn’t last longer than 2 weeks.

Looking at the forecast we may only miss 2-3 days of weather friendly golf days!

It is supposed to be a minimum of 3 weeks if I'm mistaken

In case anyone was wondering and not as dumb as me, it was rather cold and damp this morning! Probably could’ve skipped that one.

If they are basing the tee sheet on 1.5h nines, that's not going to end well.

That would require some skilled marshall work. And from watching marshalls all over Calgary, they simply don't have the ability to confront the problem in a skilled manner.

Instead picking one group that looks the least threatening in the middle of a huge buildup and tell them that they're slightly behind. Resolving nothing when they catch up, as it was the a-hole group at the front that they didn't have the balls to talk to.

My course is using tagmarshall this year. I’m interested in seeing how it works and how successful it is in improving pace issues. We were also slated to have 10 minute times and I think that’s excellent.

For us it’s basically just a GPS you clip to your bag and return at the end of the round (just one person in the group). If you take it home, you get a call from the pro shop the next day, lol.

Do you think there'll be a good portion of golfers who won't golf alone?

My golf course is an absolute disaster right now. Impossible to get tee times. Every morning we open the tee sheet 2 days in advance and within 2 minutes its packed!

Which course? This sounds like mine at this point also, but I would suspect that's everywhere.

The craziest is that one of the courses you can only play 18 (unless you want to walk out) and times are booked to tee off there at 7:55pm. People are obviously dying to get out.

Glencoe. Same as the Forest - its a long hike back. Unless we are talking about the same course!

The Nanton golf club has it's first Covid case. An employee in the clubhouse tested positive for the virus. All employees in close contact are getting tested to find out if this is a single incident and or if there are more cases. Customers dining on the patio who had contact with this employee have also been contacted.

Clubhose is shutdown for deep cleaning. Other places where the employee may have visited will be deep cleaned also
