Grabbing Chuba is both a gamble and a good move for the Stamps.

I wish I was more familiar with the players drafted.

The CFL draft is a lot more unpredictable than the NFL draft because of ratios and each team's tolerance of risk that the player will go to the NFL and so much of the commentary on TSN before each pick about which player that they thought the teams would take proved to be quite far off.

Also, TSN showed the wrong details about Amen (the Stamps first pick) - they indicated he was a massive OL rather than a slightly undersized LB. Seemed amateurish.

I thought it was quite strategic to grab OSU teammates Amen and Chuba. If either of those guys signs it’s probably a successful draft. But if both eventually sign that would be a hone run.
Wouldn't it be something if Chuba turned out to be Jon Cornish 2.0? Of course, step 1 is to start playing CFL games in 2021.

But don't they hold his rights until he stops playing NFL. With how quickly they burn through running backs down there he could be here in 5-6 years. As a Canadian in a skilled position he could pull down 200k+. Certainly enough to entice him to continue playing.

You know what I can't wait until I'm sitting on my patio and this theme comes back on the TV. I'm so excited to see the Stamps again.

^^ Haha -- well done.

I'll be happy when I'm sitting on a hard bench in a 60-year old stadium and this baby comes on just before kickoff:

Doug Ford is insisting that there will be no large sporting evens this summer in Ontario. If that is their stance I cant see how the CFL can move forward this year or at least before Labour Day.

Bo starting a podcast with curler (and Riders fan), Ben Hebert:

Quote:
When he moved from Texas to Canada to play professional football, the last thing Bo Levi Mitchell expected to become was a curling fan.

Growing up in Regina as a tried and true fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the last person Ben Hebert expected to become one of his best friends was the quarterback of the Calgary Stampeders.

...

“When I found out he was a curler, I thought, OK, that’s a sport I’m never gonna watch,” said Mitchell, who hails from Katy, Texas and played college football at Eastern Washington.

“But this year I watched the entire Brier. I watched every single match that was televised. I had my daughters watching, had my wife watching. You’ve got a good friend in a sport and you become very, very passionate about it.”
https://torontosun.com/sports/footba...-podcast-hosts

At the bottom of the article, it also talks about how Bo is confident the season will start on August 5:

Quote:
“I’m 99% positive it’s gonna happen Aug. 5,” the Calgary Stampeders quarterback said Friday. “Just based off the emails and the tone around the conversation. It feels like we need to make sure the guys are ready. I do feel very confident that training camps will start around that July 10 area.”

The five-foot-10, 195-pound cover man signed with the New England Patriots in 2017 and later joined the Philadelphia Eagles. He was on the birds practice squad when Philadelphia won Super Bowl LII.

The 25-year-old Killings has also been a member of the Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers and Las Vegas Raiders. He’s played in one career NFL regular season game. After opting out of the 2020 NFL season, the Raiders released him in March.

Bo seems to think three down football on American sized fields would work as part of a CFL-XFL merger.

If the leagues come together the downs or field size might have to give. Mitchell thinks it’s easiest to switch and play three-down football on an American size field.

“We’d probably have to convert to the smaller field to compensate for XFL fields because they’re not going to go out and create CFL fields,” Mitchell said on The Bob McCown podcast.

“I don’t want to see the game change. I don’t want to see the downs change. Hopefully we can keep the CFL rules and I think that’d be a really good thing to happen.”

The B.C. Lions are preparing for the 2021 CFL season to kick-off on the August 5 target date.

Vancouver-based reporter Rick Dhaliwal had a conversation with Leos co-general manager Neil McEvoy on Wednesday morning before going on-air with co-host Don Taylor on their show: Donnie & Dhali – The Team.

“The B.C. Lions are telling their players on July 2 to start quarantining, so that means July 16 training camp in Kamloops is a go for the Lions. It looks like the Lions will start in August,” Dhaliwal said.

That's great. Not only is that a terrible name, but it should be "Elk".

Properly, the plural of Elk is Elk.
