I've gotten calls twice now from players, Ledgerwood last year, and David Norman today. Both times I've missed it because I was driving! One day

Whoa, can’t wait to see who I get a call from! It’s for season ticket holders right?

I think it’s a nice touch that they’re reaching out to the community. Told him congrats on the contract and glad that he’s back

Ditto. I was surprised he was on the phones already. Told him how happy I was that he was back with the team and his recovery went well. I think the first season it was Carducci that called me and I can't remember which player last year.

Anyone know what number they're calling from? I think I got a couple of calls from a 403 number that sounded awkward and I immediately hung up. Is there a standard script they need to read from?

The league has put out an update on the 2021 season.
The May 22 start date has, obviously, been delayed. There are no further details in this update but it also mentions that "We will share an update with you on May 15 regarding our 2021 season ensuring that our Supporters and Fans will be the first to know."
I have heard rumours that the season will start in June / July with a Winnipeg bubble but those are just that, rumours.

I wonder if CPL could get some government funding due to how little funding it would need relative to a much larger league like the CFL.

I'm not for public funding of professional sports, generally, but I think this case is different.
I am for public money to support cultural institutions, and the CFL and definitely the CPL seem more in this camp to me. These aren't exactly viable businesses, but you can make the argument they are contributors to Canadian culture.
Same thing for a women's professional hockey league.

This guy has a goal against Liverpool in the League Cup with Cardiff, and has also played with Bolton and Wolverhampton among others.
Happy to have this guy on our side! What a signing!

Formerly of Plymouth Argyle, Cardiff and Wolves. Had a loan spell in MLS a few years ago as well. Damn good pedigree for this league, IMO.
Not sure I can find any weaknesses any more on this roster. Lacking depth at fullback but that's about it really. And Pasquotti...

Lets get this season started. I am hoping with all the vaccinations that maybe we see a significant drop by June, maybe the season starts July with some fans? A man can dream.

Joe Mason looks like a great signing. Most of his playing career has been in the English Championship with some pretty decent clubs.
The guy is "only" 29 and has some solid experience in England, and was even fairly productive on his loan spell for Colorado Rapids by the looks of it. A proper journeyman. I think that he will do well in Canada.
This is why I absolutely love soccer and the intricate web that it weaves. Cavalry is a small cog in the global machine, but a cog nonetheless. And now Joe Mason gets to bring some real experience to CanPL, which will no doubt rub off on younger Canadian players here.
