[Signing] Adam Henrique - 5 Year contract extension - 5.825 Mill AAV
Adam Henrique has signed a five-year, $29.125 million contract extension with the Anaheim Ducks.
Henrique will play out the final season of his six-year, $24 million contract before this new deal takes effect. He could have become an unrestricted free agent in 2019. Henrique scored 24 goals and 50 points in 81 games with New Jersey and Anaheim last season. It was the third time in his career that he's reached the 50-point milestone.

I like Henrique a lot, but in fairness to Backlund, he's the shutdown centre for the Flames. Henrique doesn't have to do as much of that work with the Ducks (that's for Kessler). I suspect Henrique gets much more favourable zone starts. He also got a lot of first unit PP time (on both teams).

Yeah too bad he’s a duck and a helluva tough customer. I’ll never forget him fighting Iginla and doing well.

Too much for him. Jersey was happy to move on from him despite their lack of scoring depth beyond Hall. Lots of rumblings about a player that had begun to put his personal success above the team's.
So for that reason, I'm glad that he's in Anaheim.

Since he re-signed, the Ducks have to send a 3rd round pick to the Devils

Given that Kesler may never play another game, they needed Henrique pretty badly.

The night of the rare double Gordie Howe hat tricks, and Iginla's final one as a Flame.
