Interesting news!

Who is on their way out now? I really want to see Bennett for another year, to see if theirs a breakout pending. If the flames bring in neal, lindholm, czarnik, ryan with Ferland, and ? out, where ? isn't Bennett/Jankowski then I'll be pretty satisfied with the offseason.

I'm happy with the signing. This really helps push guys down the lines and adds a ton of talent to the bottom 6.

Great Free agency period/off season.

Dude, I predicted this exact deal to myself as I was going to sleep. Why didn't post it. :-(

Anyway. I'm very excited to have Neal on the team. Huge for us, at least for the start.
Commie was right!

I imagine Neal will be in reinvigorated potentially playing with Gaudreau / Monahan or even Tkachuk.

I think they'll do something like Mangipane + Brouwer +3rd rounder for a 3rd or 4th from another team. They're going to have to make some room on the roster and with the cap

World class shot, but not a guy who drives a line on his own. He will bury it more often than not when he's set up, and protects the puck very very well. Isn't afraid to play chippy.

The perfect fit for Gaudreau and Monahan, honestly.

This is good. Finally have something the team has been missing for a few seasons now. Term/$ might not be ideal, but I don't care much.

One has to think this lineup gets BT into the playoffs for the 3rd time in 5 years, which would be huge for BT.

I'm an hour behind here in BC, but what news to wake up to!! Term is kinda long, but manageable. Exciting addition!!

Tre has made some pretty good moves. Hope they all work - this could be a helluva year!!

Yeah mostly looking forward to years 1-3 of the deal, but if we're contending during that time I'll forgive a fall off in years 4 & 5

Terrific UFA signing! Free asset with value for at least 3 years.

Cap wizardry needed now.

12.8 million left to sign 2F, 2D, 1G.

Lindholm is close to 5 million/yr and Jankowski at least 1.8 million/yr.

Leaving 6 million for Hanifan, Kulak and Rittich.

Hanifan must be a bridge deal for 2 years then.

Which will leave a bit for Tkachuk's bonuses so we dont have overage.

Cap increase, buyout of Brouwer next year, no Smith contract should help us squeeze in Tkachuk. But will be tight.

If Bennett has breakout year we will need to move some assets.

Real crunch comes with Brodie, Hamonic, and Hanifan all due in 2 years. But Valimaki at least should be ready by then to replace one of them.

Wow, this is unbelievable! The term is no big deal at all, you simply deal with it at that time. More importantly to me, the cap is is very manageable.

I was looking at the lineup last night and everything kept coming back to: "if we just had one more asset, one goal scorer, this lineup would all fall into place. If only there was some way we could get Neal".

This is fantastic! The Flames are actual competitors now. Here is what I was looking at for a lineup (order doesn't really matter, what matters is the depth throughout):

Gaudreau - Monahan - Neal
Tkachuk - Backund - Lindholm
Bennett - Jankowski - Czarnik
Dube - Ryan - Frolik
Mangiapane - Lazar - Brouwer
Foo

What was essentially our 4th line last year, is now our 5th. I have Ryan and Frolik slotted on the 4th line together - that is fricking crazy depth!

I am so pumped. Treliving has taken a forward group that, though it had some good pieces, just didn't have the depth to be competitive, and in one week, turned it into a roster that rivals almost any.

Kudos good sir!
