Defense of what Bertuzzi did? No that was beyond the pale as people aren't sucker punching people on a nightly basis. Disregarding him as an awful human being and ostracizing from the city and striking him from the history books hasn't happened though, no.

He was an idiot who did stupid ####. I'd have preferred he didn't. He also scored big goals, was well liked by his teammates and did a lot in and for Vancouver. To give you an example: We certainly do not have as many fond memories of Ryan Kesler.

I'm of the opinion that putting people under pressure or stressful situations is the best opportunity for them to show you who they really are.

And frankly, Burrows under pressure has given plenty of reason to despise him despite whatever community involvement he might have had. The biting incident, the diving, the verbal abuse, and the summer hockey incident... it goes on and on.

Yep, the diving as dumb, the biting was dumb but you guys just aren't going to change many minds by bringing it up. It's not like we missed it and are going to be surprised by it.

No kidding.

Baxter and Plett were both mean suckers, but they were both honest players and if needed to answer, they dropped them.

Strange analogies, both.

This is strange. 2 seemingly reasonable posters who just happen to be Canucks fans are getting worked up and saying deplorable and instantly regrettable things over this.

I suppose you don't need the laundry list of shameful behaviour that has been Alex Burrows for the last decade, but what is it that makes you love the guy so much? What is it specifically that he did for Vancouver?

Yeah, and my thoughts are the same on it as anybody that defends someone like Chris Brown. Looking past those incidents, just because they provide you with what you want, is despicable.

Chris Brown nearly beat someone to death. Please show me in which situation Alexandre Burrows locked someone in a car and hit them and nearly choked them to death and only stopped when they started screaming for their life?

Biting a finger is clearly on the same level, I guess. My mistake.

Deplorable is a stretch.

He scored the single most important goal in Vancouver Canucks history, which itself is hilarious given the fact that it occurred in the first round of the playoffs.

The Canucks are such a pathetic franchise—Winnipeg Jets-level of irrelevant and sad.

Be lying if I said that wasn't part of what made people in this city love him.

His path to the NHL, what he did with the Sedins to get them over the top, how highly his teammates speak of him, the work he did with Canucks Place. He was a piece of #### on the ice, we all get that we just feel what he did for the team and the city matters more.

You are being unsurprisingly selective in your evaluation of Burrows on-ice behaviour. I guess it is convenient for you to just simply ignore the racial taunting and over-the-line verbal abuse, the 10-game suspension that resulted from his attempt to knee Taylor Hall's head into the ice, the summer incident when he swung his stick at a 19-year-old goalie in an off-season pick-up game.

Finger-biting and diving are easier to excuse. These other incidents much less so.

First of all, it went beyond piece of ####. Secondly, It went beyond the ice. Unless you also mean police incidents on ball hockey courts with minors as "the ice".

I love pieces of #### on the ice. I think Marchand is hilarious, Tkachuk is my favourite Flame, Corey Perry was an incredibly effective player. Burrows was not that. He was:

-an extreme coward
-a shameful bully (see O'sullivan, Tootoo, Rypien)
-a crying victim (see sobbing incident asking why everyone hated him)
-a biter... a hair puller... a diver... and overall just a bad person.

He was also effective, an underdog, and experienced some level of success in the league. A valuable player for the Canucks during their brightest period as a franchise, no doubt.

I get why you would have fond memories of that, but you're clearly overwhelmed by that and not seeing the whole person here.

I'm not ignoring it. I'm hitting the stuff that keeps getting brought up as a reason to hate him.

Who did he racially taunt? I must have missed that, unless you mean the Tootoo thing that an NHL official sitting between them heard and said nothing racial was said, so he wasn't suspended.

The Taylor Hall thing was hot garbage and he was dumb as #### to do it. I'm still not sure that's on the same level as being a member of the Klan or trying to kill his girlfriend though.

That 19-year-old goalie was straight up spearing Burrows through out the game. Oh poor him, I am shocked he eventually got cross-checked while doing that. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, though this goes for Burrows too. I do question Burrows still going infront of the net at that point, probably has to be smarter.

I like you a lot better when you make posts like this, as opposed to your Reggie Dunlop impression.

Do people really give Burrows credit for getting the Sedins to the next level? The Sedins are the ones that made him go from an ECHL scrub to the NHL. Burrows won the lottery being in that situation.

They don't win a Hart and two Art Rosses without Burrows.

Jason Botchford does. But this is honestly the first I have heard such nonsense, and it only appeared in his Burrows editorial this past week.

The moment it ventures into denigrating others for having suffered abuse and for their struggles with mental health.

Actually, the O'Sullivan one I will give you. Probably why Burrows apologized for it.
