Hopefully all of them. That’s the goal.

Well, I am hoping for the day that infants will feel comfortable taking transit alone to all of their appointments, while enjoying the free fare they’re afforded. I mean, that’s really the goal at the end of the day, right?

Glad that you directly agree with this, since that's the point we're making. Transit is generally safe 99% of the time for riders.

No.
The goal is to let safety deteriorate until a 14 year old dies. Then we do something about it.
Why does it take something terrible to happen to someone before they understand? (See politician who wanted to dismantle police attacked)

Dude, you are all over the damn place. You say transit is unsafe for teenage girls, you say it is safe for teenage girls (as per your post I quoted), you say the goal is let safety deteriorate until a teenage girl dies, you post a link to an article that shows an increased investment in transit safety that isn't a response to a teenage girl dying.
Which is it?

99% isn’t a very good target for non violence / safety on CTrains
240,000 trips (I think it’s trips Vs unique riders) the CTrains Daily
99% would mean 2400 acts of violence / people being unsafe
I think this is actually the point . If even 0.01% (or one in 10,000) of trips were unsafe that is still 25 a day.
Any anecdotal evidence in this argument is pretty silly when you consider the overall ridership numbers
The odds that the person you know was assaulted will always be low .

Girl dying was tongue in cheek. Really?

Because this hypothetical deterioration of safety situation you made up in your head is not actually reality.
Anyway, to bring it back to AB politics, we should apply your mindset to climate change and diversifying the economy. How many bubbles need to burst before our premier decides we should invest in something that doesn’t include oil or gas? How many heat waves and droughts before our premier does something meaningful and stops kicking and screaming about it.. Imagine if we prioritized renewable energy and non-fossil fuels for transportation, wouldn’t that help ease the cost of transporting goods around? You think Jimbo with his F350 isn’t billing out his fuel costs to the end customer?

You're the one that seems to be selecting both sides of the argument for transit safety with your own posts, not me dude - yet, the nuances of a 'girl dying' is the hill you choose to make your stand on here? C'mon.

This is what Yoho posted that we were replying to.

This is not hypothetical. You think the mayor and chief of police are lying?
I didn’t make this up in my head. Nice try though.

Do boots on the ground make trains safer? Or are police typically responding to incidents and investigating? I think some posters are pointing out that bad decisions that have cut funding in important areas that might prevent people from living in poverty and turning towards crime and drug use might be the problem.
I took the kids to Cirque and also Central Library via LRT in the last few weeks and felt safe. Lots of poverty downtown but nothing that felt dangerous to me.

I don’t disagree. But like I said earlier, that’s a different discussion.

This you?
“I guess when you can’t afford to eat or have a roof over your head it’s hard to pay attention to social justice issues.”
Maybe it’s hard for anyone to care that a couple of older men are scared to ride the train? Toughen up boys, and stop using imaginary 14 year old girls as your cover.

All I wanna know is how is if Burger King is making concrete plans to ensure it’s possible downward spiral doesn’t lead to the possible death of 14 year old girls? Are they just sticking their heads in the sand like some kind of ostrich? Don’t they even care at all?
