It's a curve ball, she's playing the polar opposite person from Keiko O'brien. Actually what cued me was her eyes, she makes the same depraved eye stare when she is briefly taken over by a pah wraith.

So I finished TNG movies with Nemesis and I actually didn't hate it. Wasn't great by any stretch but I don't think it's the worst Star Trek movie ever. Overall I really enjoyed TNG movies after Generations, they remind me of the Brosnan Bond films. One amazing film, followed by 2 good to average films. Now onto the Reboot films again before I finalize my rankings.

Nemesis issue is that it's not a Star Trek movie.

Star Trek at its best is an ensemble. Nemesis (and Insurrection, and it started a bit in First Contact) is two guys and background people.

This is why Disco is so poorly received as not Star Trek while BNW is loved.

Very fair, I think it falls under generic 2000s sci Fi film and Star Trek should never be generic.

So if I wanted to keep watching current Trek I should watch BNW?

There are a few episodes of Discovery featuring SNW cast, I would look for those as they’re pretty good, and then move onto SNW.

I liked nemesis. I know it's another Picard and Data tale, but IMO those are the best two characters in TNG anyways. I think they could have done better trek by delving more into why B4 was created and talking more soong, but big budget holywood wouldn't allow for that.

The scenes with the two valdore birds, E, and the Scimitar fighting were absolutely awesome as a younger lad who had grown up on TNG. I think I was in the exact right age spot to consume that, but #### was my mind ever blown. Fun times. I like the movie and still rate it highly.

How dare you compare it to disco.

What is this BNW? An off-brand luxury vehicle made in Slovakia?

But you're right. Its like when Disco is just Burnham or when its just Kirk/Spock and why people like SNW.

I think people want to see the future as somewhere where everyone has a place and a role. If they dont need you because one or two guys can do everything it loses a lot of its appeal.

"Why is that guy even here?"

Why do we love Lower Decks? Because it fleshes out the Universe and shows that even these shlubs have a role.

It's the Civ expansion that co-opts that acronym every time I think of it.

Civ 7 this year. Humankind was worth a few plays but doesn't have the staying power of a solid civ title.

If you want to see a real world example of the decline in the artistry of movie posters, look no further than Star Trek. It's crazy we went from this:

To this:

The first 10 films all have banger posters, while the reboot posters are fine, they used to be so much better imo.

Paramount is also developing a separate “Star Trek” project, with writer Seth Grahame-Smith (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”) and director by Toby Haynes (“Black Mirror: USS Callister”), that would feature a new cast in a story meant as a kind of origin story for the franchise. A project with screenwriter Kalinda Vazquez (“Fear the Walking Dead”) first announced in 2021 also remains in development.

Strange opinion here but....

Give Seth MacFarlane a budget and the Keys and let him make a Star Trek movie.

Any Star Trek movie he wants. In Universe. Canon. No handcuffs.

I think we might really like what we get.

Hotter Take: I'd rather see the Tarantino Star Trek than MacFarlane's
