WTF Wisconsin!
That certainly changes the equation for playoffs. Wisconsin still controls their own fate in the Big 10 but should they run the table and win it all they will still be a 1 loss team. Big 10's still has three undefeated teams and Wisconsin can take care of one of those this week at Columbus. That would really wreak havoc in the rankings. This conference is still wide open - Penn State and OSU still play each other, Wisconsin-Iowa-Minnesota are all still yet to play as well.

Tua Tagovailoa suffered a high ankle sprain (different ankle than last year) and had surgery to repair it. He's out at least a week (and then they have a bye) but no timeline on his return. That makes things interesting too.

And Boise State lost. That might give SMU the best shot at a New Years six bowl game from the Group of Five if they can stay undefeated now.

Haven't been a huge follower of college football, but I'm trying to watch more.

I find trying to determine a "college" QB to an "NFL" QB obviously isnt easy, but Joe Burrow I think may be the #2 behind Tua, if not a more conventional pocket passer. Maybe a top pick this year?

Fromm in Georgia and Herbert in Oregon seem to be the concensus others after Tua, and all likely 1st round picks.

Eason in Washington, the kid from Stanford (PAC 12 repped big time this year) all in the mix along with Burrow but down a tier from the others and probably day 2 or 3 picks at this point.

Things will change by April of course but this has been the narrative since the season began.

Florida State fires Willie Taggart. Odell Haggins, who is in 26th season on FSU’s coaching staff, will be interim head coach

He'll get paid nearly $17 million not to coach for the next few years. That is what FSU will pay to buy him out. They also paid Oregon $3 million to help with the buyout of his contract when they hired him, and paid a further $1.5 to Oregon to partially compensate Oregon for paying the buyout of whomever they hired him from.

What is mind boggling is FSU apparently raised these funds on fairly short order (the $17 million), from donors, alumni etc. That is a staggering amount of cash to come up with on short notice.

Which makes you wonder what some of these schools are going to do now that they can 'pay' athletes. If they can raise $17 million to fire someone they can probably raise all kinds of cash to pay players to attend. Makes it a pretty un-level playing field for those schools that cannot.

I have many thoughts on this, most of them negative towards the whole idea. But one thing I will wonder about out loud here is how this affects the NCAA's view towards athletes earning money, or how they define 'professional'. Mainly how it may relate to hockey and the fact that kids who play in the CHL are barred from NCAA as they are considered professional. Maybe this rule will also be relaxed.

Ohio State's best player and arguably a Heisman candidate won't play this weekend due to possible NCAA issues. It's not clear if he will miss additional games but this sounds like a fairly minor issue. Then again it's the NCAA so you never know.

I figured LSU would give Bama a game, but never envisioned them going into Tuscaloosa and snot-bubbling the Tide.

Pretty awesome performance thus far and Joe Burrow has just told everyone else not to bother showing up in New York for the Heisman ceremony.

That might be a game changing play. LSU looked like they were going to score again.

I love watching college ball more than any other sport but man the American game drags on way too long. LSU-Alabama started at 1:30, it’s now 5pm and they are not even halfway through the 4th quarter.
