I had to Google what a Monte Cristo was - so basically a croque monsieur?
It sounds like something my dad would have ordered during summer vacation while having his motel-restuarant-made Manhattan

I forgot about the Mitch Hedberg sandwich:
Pastrami with cottage cheese on banana bread.

No, not the same. The bread on a monte cristo is basically french toast, a croque monsieur uses more of a bechemele type sauce. Similar, not the same.

Great thing about opinions, some people are just going to have wrong ones.
I have on more than one occasion bought a brisket from Schwartz’s on a business trip to Montreal, brought it back and been hailed and showered with praise and gratitude as a returning hero.

Smoked meat or pastrami all the way. Also a big fan of anything with bacon so BLT and Club were picked.
I also love a good PB&J but I’m going out on a limb to say they work best open faced. If you put the jam on one side only it makes the bread soggy so you need a layer of peanut butter on both sides. Unfortunately this means your jam is limited because it will squeeze out and you end up with a poor sandwich ratio of too much bread and peanut butter to not enough jam. Going open faced allows you to control the ratios for a superior sandwich.
Oh and I’m surprised the sandwich alignment chart hasn’t been posted. I guess this poll is for structural and ingredient purists only.

Not even a double bologna? Everyone knows you can hardly taste the bologna if it’s not double bologna

It was hilarious listening to them cess it all out.
Basically if it comes in a sub or hamburger bun, or has to be dipped in something (Like an au jus) it didnt qualify as a sandwich....but expect another bracket of those types of things after this one.

How did a boring ham sandwich win against the Denver? I'm assuming it's because some people have never had a Denver?
Guess I'm all in on the BLT or the Clubhouse.

I can totally see a Montreal Smoked Meat - Clubhouse final, but as a clubhouse fan, I'm a bit worred about facing Grilled Cheese in the 3rd round.

Egg sandwich is basically a fart sandwich. Let a fart rip onto a slice of bread with mayo and eat it. Basically smells/tastes the same as an egg sandwich.

Reuban vs. BLT. Another one to abstain from. Both are equally bad.

Are we talking PB & Jam or PB & Jelly? There's a difference and Welch's Grape Jelly is the only option.

How do you underrate a dive bar like the Alcove? It is exactly what everyone would think it is. If you rate it any higher, it would be overrated, and then people would be disappointed.
Also, you are wrong about the Monte Cristo.

Damn. Disappointed but not surprised to see egg salad get eliminated. Love a good egg salad sandwich especially on fluffy bread with the crust cut off. Agree that the Cuban is a fantastic sandwich. Would have loved to see that and the now ubiquitous Banh Mi included as I feel like they're both extremely popular. LOL at comparing a smoked meat sandwich to Tim Horton's food, but I suppose in the day of extreme exaggeration, it's to be expected!
