Yup. Called this exact scenario for Kucherov at the beginning of the season. Not to say he wasn’t hurt, I am sure he was, but there has to be a way to enforce the cap for the playoffs.

Why not just have the cap still apply in the playoffs? I don't see why a contending team should actually benefit from a star player getting near the deadline so they can stick them on LTIR and use that now available cap to add another big ticket player, then add the injured player back when they're healthy.

As long as the paper work is in order (medical advice from doctors) there is nothing that the league can do.
