Gaudreau needs to play with good players

ridiculous skill but you can't expect a guy who weighs 150lbs to do all the heavy lifting. Either put him in a position to succeed and sign him or trade him. No more Monahan and some random 4th liner please.

If they are going to trade someone trade Monahan and use the capspace to sign a RW.

Gaudreau played with Lindholm and tkachuk for the past 3 games, has looked great the whole time

Yeah I know that is the point I was making based on the convo on the last page...I should have quoted

I'm saying he is good but needs good players with him, like the last few games. If you stick him with a 4th liner and Monahan and ask him to do everything it won't work.

Good to hear JG wants to re-sign. The last 4 games have convinced me - let's bring everyone back and give it another go.

The Flames were the better team.

I think the difference in the game was Tyler Taffoli, I can’t believe the Canucks let this guy go and signed Pearson instead. For the Flames it would have been possible to sign him instead of Markstrom, food for thought.

Obviously Treliving screwed up another UFA signing

Markstrom is no better than Talbot or Rittich

I do agree a scorer or two would make a MASSIVE difference, so many close losses
Just because there were rumours of him being friends with Monahan from their 67's days.

Have to echo the sentiment that Trelving made a mistake in the post season. That missing top six forward was Toffoli. His skill set would have really complimented Gaudreau and Monahan and given the Flames a really dynamic lineup. Prioritizing needs is another weakness for the current GM.

I don't think the Flames are a Toffoli from being a contender.
They're a farther than that.

I agree with Pat Steingberg, no trade(s) can fix this team.
There's only one way for them to potentially become contenders, and they're not going to do it.

This kind of stuff was also supposed to land Calgary Scott Neidermayer, Mark Stone, Tavares and a few others I can remember.

Yeah Treliving can find another Brouwer or Neal to complete the hat trick?

No, more like Buddy was supposed to keep Johnny here. Or Hayes was signing.

Well it's stuff that helps, but the GM has to be interested in making an offer to start with.

If we signed Toffoli the same posters would be complaining about him not finding a number 1 goalie.

Yup Treliving can only do one thing at the time. Give him 7 more years

He made a big pitch for Anderson.

I agree with those who say the Flames aren’t a Toffoli away. And disagree with those who say a goalie and a D weren’t priorities. Flames were short a D (or $6M poorer if they keep Brodie) and Talbot/Rittich had proven they weren’t the answer.

Toffoli was a good scorer - high teens, low 20s except for 15-16. He was only one season away from a career low in 2019. It’s not like he was some sure thing. I’m sure Treliving would have made an offer if he had some money to do it with. After all, he looked into him at the TDL. But he didn’t have money.
