Flames Update: Flames sign Johannes Kinnvall to a 2 yr ELC. Will come to NA after 20/21

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Treliving says the team is waiting on the finalization of a transfer agreement to confirm the signing of a Swedish player.

Says there should be a couple announcements on signings sometime next week. #Flames

There are some intriguing Swedish FAs out there. Mathias Brome is interesting to me.

If there’s a transfer that means the player is not a FA, correct?

Having just watched Midsommar, I would prefer we steer clear of the Swedes.

Johannes Kinnvall? He was at development camp. His teammate, Sandin signed today with the Flyers

Quote:
There is also NHL interest in HV71's successful acquisition of Johannes Kinnvall, who with 40 points (11 goals, 29 assists) in 51 games became HV's points king in SHL.

- We know about the interest for both Johannes Kinnvall and Linus Sandin from the NHL. We know that. It remains to be seen where it lands for these guys.

Depends on how they negotiated the new transfer agreement. According to the hockey news, transfer payments are made regardless if the player is under contract or not under the previous agreement.

The way it works now, European teams that lose players receive $240,000 regardless of whether the player is under contract or not. So even if a player gets free agent status in his league, the team that loses him still gets money.

Johannes Kinnvall, D, 22 (SHL)
After a promising campaign in his first full season, Kinnvall has seen his production bump up from 22 points to 38 points this season with HV71. That may be enough for Kinnvall, a small but mobile two-way defenseman, to earn an NHL deal. Kinnvall has been linked to a few teams over the past few years, including the Washington Capitals and Calgary Flames (with whom he skated at development camp last season). So, after a strong run back home, there’s reason to believe Kinnvall will make the move to North America.

Its great they are finding these guys who cost nothing but a couple year contract. Very smart management.

But damn it would be nice if one or two of them were RW/RS guys.

Congratulations, Johannes, you're now the Flames' second-best RHD signed for next season! Here's Noah Hanifin's contact info, he's your new partner.

Maybe its Linus Lindstrom, (4th round pick in 2016) Flames have until June 1 of this year to sign him.

Between Backlund, Lindholm and Andersson, I wonder if we might be an appealing landing spot for Swedes?
