I think the vast majority of hooks and trips are actually dives. It is incredible how easy world class skaters fall with the lightest touch
I also believe that NHL reffing is so bad that players feel they need to embellish and do so tactically

Dive for sure but a lot of goaltenders would have flopped in that situation when they know they are getting contacted. We've seen Rittich do the same last weekas well as Mike Smith against the Leafs.

It’s not fair to say the reffing is bad
The league absolutely should publicize things like this. It is disgusting that players take advantage of the refs
Suspensions are warranted IMO to encourage integrity
