Hasn't Loob been unofficially scouting for the Flames already? I think I've read "we talked to Hakan" a number of times from them. He might as well have them pay him.

He's done everything he can in Färjestad. Time for new challenge?

Probably the best news in 2018. He is a Flame and a winner. Has eye for talent, knows euro leagues and therefore has extensive knowledge of their prospect and free agents. Very successfull after hanging them, there are only positives about this hire.

Wow. Felt like this should have happened a LONG time ago but glad it’s done.

I have never to date seen a better transition then when Loob first came to Calgary and the left after winning a cup with us.

He was not much for defending himself prior to lining up with Roberts and Nieuwendyk.

After if you slashed him he’d slash you back. He just didn’t back down with those 2 on his line but don’t get me wrong as he’d fight his own battles thanks very much.

Love love love this news as Hakan Freaking Loob is my all time fave flame.

Looooooooooob

Guy is a flame through and through, hearing him call in to overtime and listening to him over the years, I feel like he is as big a fan as most of us. Great hockey resume as well with 4 titles in 11 years as a GM too so it's not an Oilers old boys for the sake of it move. Nice move Flames, makes sense and a feel good.

Probably the best news since the Flames made the playoffs in 2017, and you could argue that this news is actually better. Quality, proven hockey mind who still has the fire burning in his heart. Best hire since Darryl Sutter as head coach (talk about a dry spell)!

What a relief that there's actually some good, positive news that everyone can agree on!

During the Stanley Cup season, Hakan Loob was my second favourite player after Al MacInnis.

That just hit me a little... Loob, as great as he was, probably wasn't the best player on his line. All three guys brought a little something different though. And the best thing is, you could pretty much call that the 2nd line! What a powerhouse that team was.

Glad to have Loob back in the fold!

I think he stated in his biography that he would seek up Gretzky every time there was a fight coming, so they could just hang on to each other.

To bad that book doesn´t exist in english. It is a good read, from his father leaving Balticum during the second world war, to his days in Calgary.
