I was reading up on that course yesterday ahead of this weekend....and results thus far don't seem to be a surprise this morning. It will keep everyone tight and make for an interesting finish, but man, sure doesn't look like an enjoyable or particularly scenic course.

Rory at +9 thru 10 holes. Only 5 players under par, and 12 players at even or better and not even noon. I love a good US Open challenge and all, but this is not gonna be very fun to watch at all.

Well Mcilroy and Jason Day look to have shot themselves out of the tournament on Day 1. That is too bad.

lol

I watch Tiger tee off on the 1st, puts it dead center. I walk away and do some things, come back and he's in the middle of the fairway on hole #3 and +4 already.

Bahaha what the hell happened?

Golf summed up right there: Dustin is in the greenside bunker, Justin Thomas and Tiger have two birdie putts inside 10 feet, only Dustin makes birdie.

Brooke Henderson makes 7 birdies over final 10 holes to pull into 2nd place at Womens PGA Championship in Illinois.
Nice comeback after the bogey bogey start!

Ugh. What's the matter with me!?!?
This course is 5 minutes from my house.
Im really bummed I didn't go for a day, despite how incredibly hot it has been.
Wound up 6th, but nice job Brooke!

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are in negotiations to play a winner-take-all match for $10 million, according to a report Friday by Golf.com.

There have been murmurs of some sort of exhibition between the two golfers going back to the Players Championship in May, when they were grouped for the first two rounds and Mickelson suggested they skip "the ancillary stuff of a tournament and just go head-to-head and just have kind of a high-stakes, winner-take-all match."

When presented later with the idea, Woods didn't shoot it down.

"I'm definitely not against that," he said then. "We'll play for whatever makes him uncomfortable."

Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg, declined to comment Friday on the report. Mickelson's agent, Steve Loy, could not be reached.

But Mickelson, who is playing at the Greenbrier tournament this week, told Golf.com that the original plan was to play the match in Las Vegas this past Tuesday, but all of the various television, marketing and financial details could not be worked out in time.

With the TV money that will be put up for it, its not like these guys are fronting the money. Honestly to hear Mickelson talk about how this is enough money to make them care is kind of nauseating.

Combined they are worth what, $1.2 billion or so?

Haha. Not even 1% of their combined net worth.

Brooke tied for first through 2 days. Brittney Marchand top 20. Good chance for Brooke as a lot of the big names are way back so far. Lots of birdies on this course, which is good for Brooke.

Lots of Canadians made the cut at the Mighty John Deere. David Heath tied for 2nd through 2 days. He's been putting well. Only one or two guys in the top 20 who have won recently. Might be a chance for Heath to break through.

Brooke off to a hot start. 3 under through 6. She is leading by 2. I believe coverage will be on the Golf Channel this afternoon. They seem to really like her, especially her killer instinct intangibles and ability to hit the clutch shot on the biggest stages.

The Mighty John Deere Classic is another big day for Canadians. MacKenzie Hughes is 7 under through 14 and shot up into the top 10. There are lots of birdies on the back nine so he'll need to keep it up to stick in the top 10.

David Hearn is back to having a good round. His rythem seemed to be affected yesterday with 2 or 3 rain delays out there. He bogeyed the 14th yesterday which was a hole many players had a shot at 2 on the par 4. It was playing 312 yards downhill. That's at least a 2 shot swing. That said, Hearn is currently in a T-4. He's 2 shots out of 2nd. First place is running away with it and may win by 10 the way things are going. There are 15 players tied with Hearn or within 2. He can't drop a stroke or it's going to kill a big payday. Plus because Hearn doesn't have full time status, finishing in the top 10 gets him another PGA start as well.

Brooke with 2 late bogeys and finishes in 3rd place. Great result but she'll be ticked.

Hearn struggles with the driver down the stretch and finishes in T-15 with Hughes.

6 holes into the final round of The Open Championship and Tiger Woods is one shot back of Speith and Schaufele. He's looked really solid so far today. Course is looking to pretty tough with high winds today.

Woods now tied for first in the fourth round of a major. Must be ten years since we have last seen that.

He’s about to be solo first. The guy who posted -5 could end up being a factor.

Well Tiger is probably gonna fall back to -6 after that tee shot, but yeah Pepperell in the clubhouse sitting at -5 is really well positioned. This is a brutally hard course when the wind is like it is today, so -5 might be good enough for a playoff.

Tiger will a great shot out of a fairway bunker to keep sole possession of the lead. Will be an exciting finish with the wind.

Correction: 7 years (2011) since 4th round lead in a major but 10 years since last win.

US Open 2008

Terrific bunker shot on 10. He looks like the old Tiger.

This is going to be a case of who holds on the best. Molina and Woods have been the guys clinging to even par but they are both starting to slip.
