I think it was clear from Conroy and his comments the team was moving on. They also signed his replacement.
At some point it’s best for both parties to move on.

No team was going to offer more than a year. He bet on himself and overplayed his hand. Hopefully he gets some opportunity there via injury or a promotion from the bottom pairing. Could learn a thing or two from Makar and to a lesser extent Girard.

Best of luck Oliver. I hoped you'd find a way to turn into a top 4 D-men with the Flames. Hopefully the AVS help you unlock your game.

Avs sign Kylington to 1 yr deal $1.05 mil
I had a snickers bar and now I’m not as angry but it still sucks and it does say something about his character

Why does COL sign him?
They have 24 guys on the roster - 8 d-men - and are over the cap by $4.6 mil without signing OK.
Is there a rumour they are moving Girard (9 team NTC) before the season?
Is De Haan retiring?

No, not at all. That’s how I feel about what kinda person he is. He’s an Ahole
Stupid for not taking an offer and an Ahole for walking away from a team that took care of him when he was in possibly the darkest point in his life. That’s an Ahole move. I don’t feel bad for saying it. It’s being honest

I don’t hate the guy, and he shouldn’t be booed, but it’s absolutely fair to think he handled this poorly. It’s not a great look for him.
Having said that, I hope the Flames continue to treat their players the same way they treated Kylington. That will do more good than harm in the long run. I don’t want this to scare them off or cause them to handle this situation differently in the future.
It’s too bad it went this way but that’s the way she goes. Good luck Oliver.

Eh, I wasn’t a huge fan of his game like some folks here. His availability was a concern as was how he would rebound after that much time off in terms of playing a full regular season. Common sense would say that a 1Y prove it deal would be fair for both sides. However, based on media reporting it sounds like a 4Y deal was on the table from possibly the Capitals (which was then revoked). Flames wisely did not match and moved on. I wish him well but I sadly feel like this is probably his last NHL contract before heading back to Sweden.

If you paid him millions over 2 years to play 33 non-essential games and then he turns around and 'highballs' you, you'd feel different.

Because it's only a million dollars and he has potential. Smart gamble by them.
He also fits their style of play.

So he was supposed to take whatever the Flames offered him? It’s pretty clear he got bad advice by his agent.
Anyone hefe would take a 4 year deal over a 1 year deal. Obviously he got bad advice and this is what was left for him.

Johnny screwed the team the last minute he could.
Tkachuk technically didn’t screw us but booing him seemed more like a fun thing.
What is the reason we would be Kylington? Because he didn’t take whatever the Flames offered him? Should a player coming off a knee injury also just take any offer a team makes because they rehabbed him?

This contract is almost league minimum dollars and only 1 year. It would be almost impossible for the flames offer to be worse, unless it was a long term league minimum deal.

Naw man, he deserves it. He gave the city, team, and fans lip service, and then his actions showed otherwise. Boo away.

Call me skeptical because you'd have to be insane to offer him any kind of term when he could up and leave at any moment and the team is still on the hook.

I dont if its 'clear' but that does seem the likeliest explanation.

Don't really care about the player anymore, but some of y'all need to get off your high horse. Hard to blame fans for being a little sensitive right now to players bailing on the organization.

Yeah, but now COL has to find a home for 2 extra d-men (none of whom are waiver exempt), lose $5.5 mil off the cap and deal with the possibility of Nichuskin and/or Landeskog returning (of course, COP may know for a fact neither is), and you've told your prospects "good luck in the minors all year".
Yes, OK is a cheap gamble with possible high return, but it looks to me like it screws up a lot of things.
Why make things difficult?Did they think DAL or NSH were going to swoop in?
It makes no sense for a guy who was on the path to a PTO.
