Default Kyle Rittenhouse Trial - Update: Acquitted On All Charges

I didn't see anything about this and it's a big story from last year. Testimony has concluded and closing arguments on Monday.

Rittenhouse has pleaded not guilty to six charges, including first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide and first-degree attempted intentional homicide. Schroeder dismissed a curfew violation charge Tuesday, saying prosecutors had failed to present evidence to support it.

I've watched a bit of this, the breakdown by Rittenhouse was oscar worthy. He's scum, there's no defense for it. Hopefully he's found guilty and sent away for several lifetimes.

I’m worried he’ll get off with a slap on the wrist.

I’m of two minds on this. He’s an idiot for putting himself in that situation to begin with, but what he did was absolutely self-defense. He was not the aggressor and based on the threat he was facing he had every reason to fear for his life, but when you take a weapon into a potentially violent situation, you have to understand that bad things are probably going to happen.

I think someone would have to be crazy to carry a rifle into a protest, but I also don’t live in a country where it is enshrined in the constitution as an inalienable right to do so. It’s an entirely different mentality down there.

That's the thing. It doesn't matter if he made one terrible decision after another (going down to the riots, bringing a gun etc etc). At the end of the day, he has a right to defend himself and that's what he did.

The prosecutor has also done a terrible job, but then again, the facts are not on his side. It's a politically motivated trial and it's showing, big time.

Basing this solely on what I saw on video. Self defence, and not just on some technicality.

I can't remember from so long ago, but did the victims have weapons?

Yeah one victim did throw a bag at him.

I’m not kidding.

Well that's a disingenuous description.

One of them swung a skateboard at his head while he was on the ground, another did a flying drop kick on his head, another chased him after saying he'd kill him if he got him alone....oh and the one that survived pointed a loaded handgun at his head. But besides that.......

The one that lived admitted in court that he had lied previously and was pointing a gun at Rittenhouse and the time of the shooting.

Not only that, there are clear videos and photos of that. That State witness proved the "self defence" defence all on his own.

It's definitely become a politically motivated case. Especially looking at it from where we live it seems ridiculous that any of it even happened. But by rights it's a clear case of self defense

You can really tell who's actually watching the case, reading about it, and understands the facts, and who's just watching CNN sound bytes or young turks. Or though even if you watch only turks even one of them has basically turned around and agreed it's obvious self defence.

Here is a picture of the prosecution face palming when their star witness corroborated the defenses story on the stand, and basically ending the case for murder. This was their witness

Onion worthy prosecution

I think he is going to be found not guilty on the most serious offenses.

But he did break other laws that he has no defense for. I don't buy the boy scout story that he was there to protect property and serve as a medic though. He was a provocateur there to troll people and bit off way more than he could chew.

Not that matters. But it kind of does. The 1st guy this doofus killed (yeah hes innocent but still a stupid trump supporter) apparently was a convicted pedophile who threatened to kill him if he got him alone. I swear to god politics and "team identity" is making peoples brains mush.

What does the one guy being a pedophile have to do with team identity?

What a remarkable material misrepresentation of the situation.

Witnesses confirm the first guy said he would kill him. Video clearly shows a pretty intense chase, where the guy who got shot is actively running down the the defendant. This wasn’t some guy tossing plastic bag at someone and getting blow away for it, holy ####.

There’s also clear video of a this guy being outnumbered, on his back, and someone swinging a skateboard at his head. You know, essentially a 3 foot lever with a few pounds of steel on the end of it. That’s no joke.

And, as pointed our already, one guy had a gun pointed at his head during the same situation.

Yeah, plastic bag. Can’t imagine why rationale discourse has disappeared.

The other part that wasn't mentioned was the first person who was shot grabbed at the barrel of his gun as Rittenhouse was backing up against the vehicles in the car lot, even as he was falling after the first shot.

This stuff has already been testified to by many eye witnesses.
