American Politics 3.0 - Back to Brunch
Since we have three Trump threads, maybe we can use this one to focus on non-Trump politics and the incoming administration. Sounds like Biden is already walking back his commitment to $2000 stimulus cheques.

Quote:
The incoming administration will work with Congress on the quick stimulus package after Biden takes office on Jan. 20, although the impeachment of Trump threatens to consume lawmakers in the initial weeks.
The stimulus package has a price tag above $1.5 trillion and includes a commitment for $1,400 stimulus checks, according to a source familiar with the proposal, and Biden is expected to commit to partner with private companies to increase the number of Americans getting vaccinated.
|
Before anyone tries with the "$600 + $1400 = $2000" spin, he committed to $2000 repeatedly after the $600 went out.

So you're saying there will be another $600 after this $1400 goes out? How does an extra $600 delay things?

You could change it to “Biden time until the whiners decide”

Bit too soon for a "back to normal" American politics thread, even if it's tongue in cheek.
I think the Capitol Riot thread is going to have to run its course first. I'd give that one the ball for the next week, to be handed off once the inauguration is over and whatever new fires have been lit are put out.
That said, we can probably close down the US Election Game Thread, as that Game is officially over.

Back to Brunch would’ve been funnier.
This stopped being funny in 2017.
The quest really does stand upon the edge of a knife.

I am saying I have no idea what occurs or is needed to get this deal across.
Dems have the senate, but by one vote, and a couple of those votes are fairly right wing.
There could be resistance to more, but $1,400 is easy to pass. Get it through and get help to people NOW and then discuss $600
