They did once in the early days of the league, but it hardly counts, because none of those series were best-of-7. In 1932, they beat Chicago in a two-game, total-goals series, then did the same to the Montreal Maroons. In those simple times, that was enough to get you to the Stanley Cup finals. And even the finals were only best-of-5.
What I rather like is that the Maple Leafs are the only team that has (a) been in the league ever since the 1967 expansion, and (b) never made the finals in all that time. Every other Original Six club, and every surviving expansion team from 1967, has won at least one championship since then.
