In the fall, turn the clock back 30 minutes and call it even.

I like late summer evenings as much as the next guy, but it's sure going to suck getting up and working when the sun doesn't rise until 9-10AM in the middle of winter.
From a business perspective, yes it sucks for the Flames and professional sports, they'll have to figure out new TV schedules. What about ski hills that start the chairs running when the sun comes out? Lake Louise/Sunshine won't be able to start spinning lifts until 9:30 when the sun rises.

umm, excellent? they will also keep the lifts running an hour later so no real change for them at all. But now I'll be able to leave my house an hour later to go skiing instead of waking up stupidly early to make it to the hill by open.

Just my personal opinion, but people sure do make changing the clock back or forward an hour twice a year such a huge mountain out of a small molehill. How do you guys ever travel properly outside your time zone? A trip to Vancouver or Toronto must be a nightmare for some if all it takes to ruin one's day is sleeping earlier or later by one hour.

This will mean that most of the road games for the Flames will have puck drop times after 9pm local throughout the winter. Vancouver, Seattle, San Jose, LA, Anaheim, Vegas, and Arizona will all be two hours behind Calgary for almost the entire regular season.

Except when all of the states/provs with those teams implement the same changes it will be mute. so mute you won't hear anyone complaining.
A few jurisdictions (incl BC) have already passed legislation saying "we'll do it when x y and z do it". We should do the same until there is the necessary critical mass.

Ontario wants to do it, but I believe they said they will only do it if New York and Michigan do as well...in other words, not happening.

True, but that assumes neighboring jurisdictions will make the same change (ie stay with daylight or standard time). That may not be the case.

The best option is to change business hours to 9-4 during winter months.

Moot, not mute. How many years will Calgary be ahead of the west coast by two hours before they decide to change? It might never happen.

I'm not sure I like the question, shouldn't it be wether to stay on MST vs permanent DST?
I think we should stay on MST, SK doesn't spring forward or fallback.

Right, but the question is whether to remain on DST year round (as you mention).

Should’ve been a 2 part question. First do you want to keep changing your clocks. Second if we stay on one time, which should it be.

You all realize we are on Daylight Saving Time for 8 months of the year as it stands right now?

Of course. And MST the remainder of the year. Which is how it should remain. Year round DST has too many negatives to be worth it.

I’m 100% in favour of stopping switching. I hope that there’s a silent majority and we don’t screw this plebiscite up.
