Poor bastard only made $77.5M before that. So in the grand scheme he's grossed $112M instead of ~$161M.

With the Canucks looking to make noise in the playoffs, it's time to see what kind of hockey player he is. Does he have it in him to go beast mode for the playoffs?

Edit: If Lindholm's play continues to trend poorly, I could see him considering a one-year "show me something" deal, signing for a discount with a top team.
He is unable to show anything on his contract year with multiple teams. It would be stupid for him to sign 1 year show me.

It would be stupid for anyone to sign him for term.

how is that relevant?

Vancouver signed a contract and then less than a year later dumped it with their fans saying it was a shrewd "cap dump" lol
Flames will get something for him next season IMO

It was a good cap dump, Vancouver needed the cap space and Kuz had no viable spot on the team.

Calgary may get something at the deadline for him, but paid a hefty price in cash to get that.

But Calgary got a much better return for taking on that contract.

Why would you even argue against it being a cap dump?

Sean Monahan was a cap dump to Montreal and they turned that into gold. There is no need to be offended by the term

I'd say hoping for a return on Kuzmenko at trade deadline is pretty wishful thinking. Even if he starts scoring, he's not the kind of player you load up on as you prepare to go to war in the playoffs. Maybe some bubble team that struggles offensively could see a slot for him.

Trade Kuzmenko? I wouldn't be shocked if we had to give up assets to get rid of that contract - if we were looking to shed a contract.

Dollars to donuts he goes on waivers within 12 months.

Florida just traded for Tarasenko. Last year the Rangers traded for Kane.

You honestly love to see it.

I'm very petty and think this is a win for the fans. Agents and players take advantage of teams 99% of the time and get max value and that is their right.

But I love seeing players not take bird on the tree and try to go for the 2 birds..especially when that 2nd bird is probably only 10% more in reality.

Enjoy your 1 year $4.5 million dollar contract lindholm.

Those are two proven performers with a body of work and a Stanley Cup on their resume.

Exactly. If you wanted Lindholm for a long time...would you want this Lindholm?

When all is said and done, I'd be interested to know what kind of contract Lindholm turned down from Treliving and the Flames.

In fact it'll be interesting to see what all of the Flames' UFAs get. I doubt Zadorov gets his payday, Lindholm certainly not, Hanifin might.

Its kind of crazy to think Lindholm turned down (allegedly) $9.5M over 8 years. He could end up costing himself $10M-$15M. How does that happen?? Fire that agent.

Playing out similar to when Klingberg rejected the 7yr @ $6M contract offer from Dallas a few years back.

Has since signed 1yr @ 7M and 1yr @ 4M. This summer he'll be lucky to get 1yr @ 3M.

Wasn't the Flames best offer something like ~8M?

$10-15 million?

More like $30-50 million. I doubt anyone signs him to longer than 1 year and if he has the same season as this one then he will be in Backlund salary territory for rest of his career.

Pretty sure the $9.5 million is what lindholms camp wanted, not what flames offered.

^^And in hindsight that was the best thing to happen to Dallas. The would not be the same dominant team while also paying Klingberg $6 mil.

Conroy said he offered what he thought was fair. I think at worse that means $7.5 million for 8 years.

Still, he walked away from a staggering amount of money. Insane.
